Weekly line thread: Eagles -4 at Lions

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

The Eagles opened at -3.5 in Motown and are now laying 4.  The total is holding steady at 48.5.
If you like the Eagles in general this season, this seems like a good betting line.  Lines are super squishy the first couple of weeks so you can often find overlays and underlays that Vegas will correct and adjust once the games begin.  On the other hand, the sense around the league is the Lions are improving but again, we don't really know much beyond what we saw on Hard Knocks.

I think this line will grow as we head into game week so if you like it, take it now.

Line: Eagles -4 at Lions
Total: 48.5
Moneyline: Eagles -200/Lions +165/170

-4 on the road? Against a team who you know are going to play hard. Hmm that's a tough one to call. Feels like Vegas have it spot on again because that's right on the edge of where I'm at.

Birds replicate the domination they showed last year. Too much talent for a hard playing less talented squad to stay with.

Taking the Birds and giving the points.

And like Hawkeye says, get it now as the line will probably go up.

Detroit has a strong physical team. If they run the ball can we stop them?

I ill take the home team and 4 points on opening weekend.

They’ll win by double digits. I have no idea why anyone would be worried about the Lions.

I think we win too, but I get it. Week one is when upsets often times happen.

You always have to wonder if we will begin the season fully prepared. We are entering fully healthy, but we only played our starters 1 series in preseason and lost one of the team's "oh so important" joint practices. Last year we began the season ill-prepared, but lucked out in week 1 by playing an even less prepared opponent.

I'm not overly concerned with the Lions. They're probably better than last year's team, but we're better than last year's team as well. We beat them 44-6 in Detroit. Honestly, it would be an embarrassment not to win and cover the spread.

The only worry is how prepared we are, if we're ready to go we should beat Detroit handily, if we've still got rust to knock off then we might need to squeak by.

Detroits 'improvement' seems to be based on nothing more than vibes and pundits having a feeling in their water. Hutchinson is a decent player but he's never played a down in the NFL and nobody ever won a Championship because they got an upgrade at defensive end, Jared Goff couldn't win a Superbowl being carried by a Rams defense that gave Brady his worst Superbowl QBR of his career.

Good tv watching for Sunday 9/11.

Eagles and Commanders play at 1.

Giants at 4.

Cowboys at 8.

Prediction:

Eagles and Commander win.

Giants and Cowboys lose.

They're right with me on O/U-always a bad sign for my wagers-so I'll refrain from this one.

I don’t gamble, but I’m going to situationally bet on the eagles this year for fun.

Ive got them as division winners at +200 and -3.5 against Detroit.  I think they should do well for me on those bets.

Surprised it's only that. Lions have injuries and it's the Lions
