time2rock Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 ROSTER MOVES: EAGLES WORK OUT BIG-BODIED RECEIVER, TWO TES AHEAD OF SEASON OPENER By Victor Williams September 6, 2022 0 The Eagles placed LT Andre Dillard on injured reserve this afternoon following his forearm surgery, leaving one roster open on the final-53. While they’ll likely call up OT Le’Raven Clark or Josh Sills from the practice squad for insurance, the Eagles did work out three players today, per ESPN’s Field Yates: Auden Tate, 6’5″, 228 pounds, had his most productive season in 2019 with the Bengals, catching 40 passes for 575 yards and a TD. He signed with Atlanta in March but was released during final roster cuts. Dalton Keene was a 2020 3rd-round pick who appeared in six games for the Patriots before missing the entire 2021 season due to injury. Farrod Green signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has spent the last two seasons on their practice squad. https://thelibertyline.com/2022/09/06/eagles-work-out-auden-tate/
Rob331 Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Can't wait to ear the explaination about thses moves. They sighed Keene which is a surprise to me. They have Tagiai on th epractice squad and Tyree Jackson on PUP. Not sure a 6th TE on the total 69 makes sense. Ditto for Tate. They already have 3 WR's on the practice squad. Now 4 of the 16 on the practice squad are receivers.

To make room for those players they cut Sinnett ... can't say that was a loss. And those practice squad spots are so fluid as the season progresses ... players continually come and go. 1

Got it, but don't you think the number of tight ends and widereceivers onverall as well as on the practice squad is a bit of overkill. Unless you actually count Matt Leo there are no defensive ends on the practice squad and only 1 safety which is a position that is universally considered in need.

There are only 5 TEs on the 70 (3 on active 53, 2 on practice squad) ... Jackson on PUP doesn't count ... and 8 WRs (4 on each). They do seem to be a bit heavy on WR at this time. While I would probably prefer another RB, S and DE on the practice squad (I don't really consider Leo a legit DE prospect), as I said this is just the makeup heading into week 1. The bottom of the roster and the practice squad change so much over the course of the season. Hopefully that balances out over time. Also hoping they cut Book and get him on the practice squad ... don't think he's worthy of being on the 53. And Howard is still available ... he can easily be added if the need arises.

With 16 PS spots, a team can easily justify using a few spots like this all year.
UK_EaglesFan89 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Ultimately I think the PS is for guys that the team want to keep looking at. So they fill it with guys who they think can develop and perhaps eventually make the roster. I get that it would be nice to have a bit of a balance but Ultimately the key is getting the most talented guys on there.
nipples Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Most of the PS guys won’t amount to much either way. So really I don’t care how many they have it each position. There are plenty of street free agents that are just as good as guys on the PS that could be signed any time.
