For all the valid monarchy vs republic debates and the deficiencies of having a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century, ole Corn Pop, Merkel or Macron are a great example of having an independent voice in the room to provide a legislatory counter balance to the politician of the day. When you need to be accountable to the school principal who can technically tell you no, decision making tends to be a bit more considered.

No, it looks like someone wrote it for him, which would almost certainly be the first time in history a President has ever given a speech written by someone else. It’s unprecedented. 

He should’ve gone the Trump route and winged it in a tight 5 about how she’s looking up from down below or she’s bleeding from her wherever.

See here, ole chap... In a well architected democracy, the elected officials are accountable to their constituents. You don't need a King to be some authority figure to tell anyone no. Especially when the King himself has no authority to answer to and his only qualification is simply that he popped out of mom's uterus.

A normal person would have the cognitive ability to not rely on a cue card to remember what to write.  Especially one who is the leader of the free world and in charge of all sort of weaponry - considering the outright fuss when Trump had to use 2 hands to drink some water, does it not concern you that Biden effectively has to carry around cue cards to remember what to do? And that is different to how your system works?  Cheney, Bush, Kennedy are but three names of the dynastic family having political sway of many generations in your country.  You can look further afield at the Ghandi family, Trudeau's, Le Pen's etc.  Different systems of government but still a ruling class persists. The monarchy is not perfect, only but a few in the UK will disagree with that.

So is ours, but the monarchy allows for checks and balances in place.  We also have parish councils, town councils, county councils/unitary authorities, devolved parliaments Scotland, Wales and NI,, assemblies for larger cities, regional Mayors and the Houses of Parliament and Lords.  Other than the Lords, each are accountable to us, the people.  And we will be altering how the Lords operates to make that accountable to the people too.

These aren't normal people signing a "sorry your gam-gam died" Hallmark card.  This is the President of the United States writing an official condolence for the death of the Queen. There's absolutely no way any president is signing that book without prepared remarks. Absolutely laughable argument.

I'm under no illusions about Biden's advanced age and the challenges that represents for himself and a nation.

But I'm very happy and proud to have a president who understands the gravity of not only the moment, but the office of the presidency of the United States, and treats it with the dignity and thoughtfulness that it deserves.

I'll take a present who doesn't let stupid pride get in the way of doing what's right, even if it means he needs to collect his thoughts on paper beforehand to ensure that he's representing our nation in the best way that he's capable.
