September 9, 20223 yr Interesting. I didn't know BDS had spread across the pond already. Sadly, this case looks like it's already at stage IV with no treatment options. Tis a shame, init?

I can't think of anyone who wouldn't be ale to do that at 79 and be considered a serious leader. Haha, our president is an international punchline.
September 9, 20223 yr i feel bad that the lady died but i honestly don't give a single crap about anything involving british royalty.

September 9, 20223 yr Let me leave this one here For all the valid monarchy vs republic debates and the deficiencies of having a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century, ole Corn Pop, Merkel or Macron are a great example of having an independent voice in the room to provide a legislatory counter balance to the politician of the day. When you need to be accountable to the school principal who can technically tell you no, decision making tends to be a bit more considered.

It’s unprecedented. He should’ve gone the Trump route and winged it in a tight 5 about how she’s looking up from down below or she’s bleeding from her wherever.

In a well architected democracy, the elected officials are accountable to their constituents. You don't need a King to be some authority figure to tell anyone no. Especially when the King himself has no authority to answer to and his only qualification is simply that he popped out of mom's uterus.

Especially one who is the leader of the free world and in charge of all sort of weaponry - considering the outright fuss when Trump had to use 2 hands to drink some water, does it not concern you that Biden effectively has to carry around cue cards to remember what to do? Did the Easter bunny not move your President on at an Easter Roll to stop him talking to the public? The Queen, till her death, was in the minutiae of UK Govt and Global politics. Your man can't put a jacket on getting out of a helicopter without help. He's an entertaining case study of how you can prop up an idiot leader if the system below it can function. 21 hours ago, Dave Moss said: Yeah great job being born into the right family and then living until you’re almost 100. And that is different to how your system works? Cheney, Bush, Kennedy are but three names of the dynastic family having political sway of many generations in your country. You can look further afield at the Ghandi family, Trudeau's, Le Pen's etc. Different systems of government but still a ruling class persists. The monarchy is not perfect, only but a few in the UK will disagree with that. 20 hours ago, we_gotta_believe said: "Valid debates," he says. See here, ole chap... So is ours, but the monarchy allows for checks and balances in place. We also have parish councils, town councils, county councils/unitary authorities, devolved parliaments Scotland, Wales and NI,, assemblies for larger cities, regional Mayors and the Houses of Parliament and Lords. Other than the Lords, each are accountable to us, the people. And we will be altering how the Lords operates to make that accountable to the people too. 5 hours ago, Gannan said: Dude! You lot really know nothing about how other countries organise their political structures. No wonder so many pseudo intellectual professors in your Ivy league universities think the UK is not working for 2 weeks after the Queen dies, has little to no understanding of the UKs involvement ending slavery (Slavery Abolition Act, (1833)) and only recently paying that debt off. Same as the debt you lot wouldn't write off for WW2 that we finally paid off recently. Etc And why is that the likes of McConnell, Pelosi, Nadler, Schumer are gripping onto power well past the pension age - Nadler entertains me as basically he looks like he's constantly on the verge of dying every time he speaks or walks. You cannot lecture other countries on their political structure; if it is so perfect, why do other countries not adopt the same structure?

These aren't normal people signing a "sorry your gam-gam died" Hallmark card. This is the President of the United States writing an official condolence for the death of the Queen. There's absolutely no way any president is signing that book without prepared remarks. Absolutely laughable argument.

September 10, 20223 yr Author I'm under no illusions about Biden's advanced age and the challenges that represents for himself and a nation. But I'm very happy and proud to have a president who understands the gravity of not only the moment, but the office of the presidency of the United States, and treats it with the dignity and thoughtfulness that it deserves. I'll take a present who doesn't let stupid pride get in the way of doing what's right, even if it means he needs to collect his thoughts on paper beforehand to ensure that he's representing our nation in the best way that he's capable.
