By Brandon Lee Gowton@BrandonGowton May 27, 2020, 4:41pm All sharing option Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf is lifting COVID-19 restrictions on pro sports teams in the Keystone State, according to an official announcement. The Wolf Administration has worked with Pennsylvania’s professional sports teams to develop guidance that allows for competition to resume. Professional sports, defined as any sporting event at which the participants are paid by a league or team, or at which individuals or teams receive prizes or purse, are allowed to practice or play in the yellow and green phases of reopening without on-site or venue spectators if the team (or league on behalf of the team) has developed a COVID-19 safety plan. Such a plan must be approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and include, among other requirements, testing or screening and monitoring of all on-venue players and personnel. Also, no fans or spectators may be permitted on interior or exterior venue property. Professional sports organizations are encouraged to contact the Wolf Administration to share their reopening plans and get them approved by the Department of Health. Philadelphia is still in the red phase but all PA counties are expected to at least be in the yellow phase by next week on Friday, June 5. Once Philly goes yellow, the Eagles will be allowed to practice in some capacity. Of course, it’s not actually that cut and dry. The NFL has permitted teams to reopen their facilities to some extent but coaches and players aren’t really able to report just yet. The league is making an effort to maintain competitive balance by preventing teams from practicing until every team is allowed to do so. A recent report indicates that head coaches could return to team facilities next week before some kind of minicamps open in mid-to-late June. It remains to be seen if that plan will actually come to fruition. While the status of spring practices are up in the air, it looks like things are trending towards Eagles training camp still beginning in late July. Hopefully that’s the case. EagleJoe8
It’s good that things are going back to some degree of normalcy, but like it said, it may not mean much until all teams are permitted back into their facilities.

Yeah so they will be allowed by the state but not by the league so really no change. For now.
Asg 15
There's gonna be no vaccine and certainly no cure for the forseeable future. While it was prudent to shut things down for a period of time to see if the hospitals could handle the load that time has passed. Everyone is gonna be exposed so we might as well get on with our lives.

I don't completely disagree but I think there are ways we can do so without exposing ourselves completely. For example if you can work from home and have efficiently done so the last couple of months then why not continue to do so? Why not make that the new norm. Have a base office for face to face meetings but the new norm is to work from home. Think how many interactions that will limit for the foreseeable future. And long term the positive impact that will have on the planet.

NO body is gonna miss the Schuylkill or Blue Route every bloody day. (For non locals, those roads make a mockery of their posted speed limits) A fair number of people have said they've been as productive during the shutdown if not more so than they were previously.

Its a step though. Im sure the league wont set a date until all team owners talk and get the approval from the gov of each state. Once they all approve, then that leads to teams going back fully. And the work life balance is so much better as well. No commute. No traffic. Able to start earlier, do what's required if you have children and then work again. The flexibility is great. The trick is having the discipline to do what needs to be done when it needs to be done workwise. There are a lot more 'jobs around the house' that are a lot closer and more tempting when it's a few feet (meters😉) away than when it's a miles away. Of course many of us have a couple more hours per day to do them because we're not in some moving conveyance.
