Newspaper in small town Kansas was raided by police. They revealed they were investigating reports of the newly installed police chief.

Judge who approved raid on Kansas newspaper has history of DUI arrests

The Kansas magistrate judge who authorized a police raid of the Marion County Record newsroom over its probe into a local restaurateur’s drunken-driving record has her own hidden history of driving under the influence.

Judge Laura Viar, who was appointed on Jan. 1 to fill a vacant 8th Judicial District magistrate seat, was arrested at least twice for DUI in two different Kansas counties in 2012, a Wichita Eagle investigation found.

She was the lead prosecutor for Morris County at the time.

Viar’s DUI history could face scrutiny because the warrant she approved for the controversial raid came in response to the Marion County Record digging into the DUI history of restaurant owner Kari Newell. The Viar-authorized raid came after Newell complained about the newspaper’s investigation into her criminal background.

Marion County Attorney Joel Ensey said Wednesday that the warrant was ordered with "insufficient evidence” to establish a connection between the materials seized and the alleged crime.

It’s unclear whether a judicial nominating commission that selected Viar for the magistrate position knew about her arrests and diversion. Members of the commission did not return calls from Eagle and Kansas City Star reporters. She would have been required to disclose both arrests in her application.

Good cops don't seem to make the news.  They just make our lives safer.  Right now, there's a shortage of cops, especially in the cities.  Who in their right mind would want the job.  Especially when a bunch of woke city folk are looking to go after them every chance they get.

An 11 year-old was groomed by an adult on the internet... Parents find out, call the cops to report it. Police show up to the house threatening to charge the child with crimes.

Is the woke in the room with you now?  Asking cops to you know, not immediately resort to shooting people at first sight isn't woke.  Maybe if the "good" police would start handling the "bad" officers, people would have more faith in the police to do their damn jobs.  Instead they just help cover crap up until video comes out of the major crap they do.  It's always we investigated ourselves and found no wrong doing.

Maybe Philly wouldn't be such a dangerous ishhole if the DA didn't hamstring the cops instead of letting them do their jobs and fight crime, and if woke people like you didn't look for ish to complain about instead of supporting your local police.  This thread is so typical of the bs here.

For you people still living in Philly with this sort of attitude, you'll get yours soon enough.

Woof.  Investigation opened - I'd say those two are done.

Beyond that, I wanna know why they reacted that way. Showing up 6 hrs later at midnight and then immediately accusing the victim before doing even the slightest bit of investigating. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but that's questionable as F.

you know, for myself and many others, we can do both. we can support the good cops and point out the bad, much like everything else in life. then there are people like you and the defund the police crowd, who can only see things one way.

that said, you are not wrong about krasner and other DA's like him. the philly voters who elected him, twice, have only themselves to blame.

Could be to avoid getting flagged by content filters or the like, not sure. I thought it was weird too.

Friendly reminder that this mf'er supports the party that wants to abolish the FBI.

We all know you're a cop hater

I think the vast majority of cops are great, both federal and local and have no desire to either abolish the FBI or de-fund the police.  You, on the other hand, want to abolish federal law enforcement and let crime run rampant.  Pathetic.  Also, dangerous.  But especially pathetic.

Nobody is supporting rogue, bad cops.  But when there's a ten page thread about it, speaks volumes.  Notice the remark I was responding to.

Who wants to abolish the FBI?  The country needs those 20+ agents to do a full-scale investigation on a garage door pull at a Nascar track!

that is utter BS, the blind backing by many as they still cover up for each other is proof of it. just acknowledge it like i acknowledged there are dipsheets out there that want to defund the police.

i mean we still get examples like the one just posted about the incident in columbus. hence a reason there is a ten page thread. which BTW is nothing for this forum for a 3yr old thread so stop with your virtue signaling.

I'll admit I used to be a support the cops at all costs type, but the past few years have definitely changed my thought process a bit.  I still support the police, but with more caution.  It doesn't help that I live next door to a state cop who is an absolute d-head.
