I have utmost respect for police officers, the good ones. There are some jobs I am not cut out for and that's one of them. I have extended family on the police force all over, from big cities to small towns. Small-town mentality doesn't get it. Their job is cut and dry; go after the meth-heads and domestic abusers that get out of line and leave everyone else the heck alone. They can suss out the bad guys pretty easily. Big city cops know what they are up against. Criminals have infiltrated their ranks and it is more difficult to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Yet they go out every day to protect the community because they want it to be better. Blindly supporting the blue means you are also protecting those that do harm to the community. Calling out the bad ones is the only way policing is going to change for the better.

Alabama police tasered and arrested a high school band director when he refused to end their performance on their command.

 

eh, they both seem at fault here. the game was over and they were there playing for fans, but were asked to leave. if you're asked to leave by the facility and by police, you probably should go even if you haven't "finished all your songs". 

police probably didn't need to escalate either. 

don't see this being a civil rights thing at all, if they didn't have permission to remain at the facility at that time, then they were trespassing.

Female cop was 100% kicking the can down the road and didn’t want to do any leg work. What you do in that situation is take the report and kick it over to investigations. She’s lazy as F.

Theres a time and a place to pass the buck, and that’s not it. You don’t do that ish over something like that.  As a patrol officer it’s not your job to make a determination regarding something of that magnitude. Don’t be lazy. Take the report. Kick it to investigations. 
 

For the band one it’s just bad optics. Just say hey man the grounds crew is trying to get the places closed up so they can go home could you speed it up. And when he doesn’t you just reach out to his school the next Monday and let them handle it. 
 

One of the biggest lessons that cops need to learn is that just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
