September 10, 20241 yr Watch the last bit: "You can’t park there! You have to move!” and "Give me your license!” Wait, so if he moves the car then he isn’t complying with the request for his license. But if he hands over his license then he can’t move the car. Sounds like a whole bunch of CYA by the police.
September 10, 20241 yr More or less I read it as two a-holes coming together. It’s generally not a great idea to roll your super tinted windows up when they’re talking to you. Also not really a good idea to not get out of the car when you’re ordered to. If I had to take a wild guess, the officer making contact just wanted to get him out of the car, and the others that rolled up were more or less a-holes. On the body cam of the officer making contact, you can see he doesn’t go hands on when the others do, even though it’s his call. Even if it didn’t go to what it did, if I was the officer making contact, after the call I would have chewed the other officers a new butthole. Nobody was watching the other side of the car, everybody was jamming up on the drivers side, and then being there just made it worse. It’s always a PITA when you get everyone calmed down and Ofc. D Weed comes in with his swinging D. Motor cops are a bunch of dweebs anyway. I don’t know Miami Dades policies, so I can’t speak to if any of the officers violated policy, but it doesn’t appear on my cursory view of the initial incident that they broke any laws. (I didn’t watch any further than them pulling him out of the car.)
September 10, 20241 yr Hill was speeding. It looks as if Hill was complying, until the officers friends come along to shout out contradictory orders and escalate the situation.
September 10, 20241 yr Quote "If I let my window down, like, people walking by, driving by, they're going to notice that it's me, and they're going to start taking pictures. "And, like, I didn't want to create a scene at all. Like, I just really wanted to get the ticket and then just go on about my way and then just have a great Sunday.” It's like Hill and the Dolphins players were trying to deescalate the situation. While the the officers kept ramping it up, shouting commands, making demands, and handcuffing people.

Man, I was expecting him to be speeding a lot faster than that or driving a lot more recklessly. But unfortunately not surprised by the overly aggressive response to a minor traffic violation. Bad cops bad
September 10, 20241 yr maybe one day the guys who train cops to engage in choke holds, put their knee on a neck, will be held responsible. I won't hold my breath. LOL.
September 10, 20241 yr Can't roll up your window like that, especially if it's tinted. The officer doesn't know if you're doing that to reach for a weapon or putting the car in gear to take off again, etc. The cops went way over the line, especially since it didn't seem like he was doing 100mph or anything but Hill isn't innocent by any means either.

Rolling up your windows against a cop's direct request is a really underutilized de-escalation technique.

But there’s waaaaay better ways to handle someone being obstinate. Like I said, I can’t speak to if they violated policies or not, but, uh, yeah. They’re not good at their jobs.

So the traffic clowns got their wish. Not only did Hill roll down his window, he got out of the car, was handcuffed and tackled to the ground. Hill said he rolled his window up so people wouldn't see him and cause a scene. When people passing by saw who they were working with, more people stopped and caused an even bigger scene. The clowns ignored Hill. They ignored the passersby. They were warned repeatedly. They got their circus.

Ignoring police orders while being openly hostile and belligerently cursing are all great ways to deal with overzealous officers to de-escalate. The only slight criticism I have of Hill during the encounter was that he never reached aggressively toward his pockets while muttering "you're going to be sorry." That would have let the officers know they were in the wrong and would eventually be apologetic for their actions.

Gee, it's almost as if he could have calmly and politely explained that to the officers instead of being a narcissistic d-bag about it.

Obviously they overreacted a bit but you can't do dumb sheet like that without paying some price for it and, honestly, he really didn't pay any price. We've all been cuffed on the side of the road. It's not that big of a deal.

September 10, 20241 yr Quote Domestic assault conviction On December 12, 2014, Hill was arrested in Stillwater, Oklahoma on complaints of assault of his 20-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Crystal Espinal. The police report states that the two got into an argument and he threw her around "like a ragdoll", punched her in the face, sat on her and repeatedly punched her in the stomach, and choked her.[159] Oklahoma State dismissed him from the football team after the charges.[160] Hill eventually pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation and was sentenced to three years of probation, an anger-management course, a year-long batterer's program, and was required to undergo a domestic-abuse evaluation, a sentence that Espinal was consulted about and said she was comfortable with.[27][161] Espinal eventually gave birth to a boy.[24][162] Child abuse investigation In March 2019, Hill was investigated for alleged battery after an incident in which his three-year-old son sustained a broken arm.[163] The following month, his son was placed into care of child services temporarily as a result of an emergency hearing conducted by the Kansas Department of Children and Families.[164] On April 24, Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe released a statement, saying that his office believed a crime had been committed but the evidence did not allow them to determine the perpetrator, and that the Kansas Department of Children and Families continued to investigate.[164] The following day, an audio recording of Hill and Espinal discussing the injury to their son and the subsequent investigation was released.[164] In the recording that surfaced, Hill and his fiancée discuss their son's broken arm; she says that their son is scared of him, to which Hill responds, "You should be afraid of me too, ****."[165] As a result, the criminal investigation into Hill was re-opened.[166] On June 7, prosecutors announced the case against Hill was inactive.[167] On June 10, reports surfaced that medical investigations showed his son's arm was broken by accident and in a way that indicated it was broken bracing for a fall.[168] On July 9, 2019, the full unedited audio from the recording was released. In the full audio, Hill accuses Espinal of lying about the domestic violence accusations in 2014 and about Hill breaking their son's arm.[169] The NFL stated they have always had the full audio of the recording.[170] On July 19, 2019, the NFL released a statement saying that Hill will not be suspended and that they found no evidence that Hill violated the personal conduct policy, but the incident will be re-examined if new evidence emerges.[171] Assault investigation On June 18, 2023, the Miami-Dade Police Department announced they were investigating Hill for allegedly assaulting a male employee of the Haulover Marine Center following the two having a verbal disagreement.[172] Later that same month, representatives for both Hill and the Haulover Marine Center employee announced a settlement had been reached.[173] In August 2023, the NFL announced that they would not be punishing Hill for the assault incident.[174] 2023 paternity lawsuits In December 2023, it was announced that two separate paternity lawsuits for child support were filed against Hill by Brittany Lackner and Kimberly Kaylee Baker, both gave birth to Hill's alleged children in 2023.[175] In February 2024, Hill reached a confidential settlement with Lackner and confirmed he was the father of her son.[176] In July 2024, a Broward County judge ruled that Hill was in fact the father of Baker's daughter Trae Love Hill. It has been reported that Hill could possibly be the father of at least ten children with four different women.[177] 2024 lawsuit On February 23, 2024, model and influencer Sophie Hall filed a civil lawsuit against Hill, alleging that he had broken her leg during a football lesson at his house the previous June when he invited her to run offensive line drills against him. The suit said she held her own on a couple of plays, frustrating him, before one hard play caused the fracture.[178][179] Hill's lawyer disputed her account and said her injury resulted from her falling over a dog that interrupted one of the plays.[180] Now that's horrifying, Rapoport.
