"He’s a kid, he’s trying to get attention, he doesn’t know how to regulate.” She added: "They’re supposed to come out and be able to de-escalate a situation using the most minimal force possible.” Instead, she said, two officers went through the front door of the home and in less than five minutes were yelling "get down on the ground” before firing several shots. "He’s a small child,” she said. "Why didn’t you just tackle him? He’s a baby. He has mental issues.” In a briefing on Sunday, Sgt Keith Horrocks of Salt Lake City police told reporters officers were responding to reports "a juvenile was having a mental episode” and thought Cameron "had made threats to some folks with a weapon”. Police confirmed they did not find a weapon at the scene.

September 19, 20205 yr Context: About 100K cops on the street today nationally. About an average of 10 contacts/public interactions per cop. so ~ 1 Million interactions, some of which were enforcement actions. Let's say 10% to err on the side of caution statistically. So we're back to about 100K opportunities for the NOTSEE cops to execute undesirables. How many executions today? 50K? 10K? 750? 500? NONE? None...those F'in NOTSEE cops are slipping...unless they're all not actually the NOTSEE cops some are accusing them of being. Look, 1 is 1 too many. With that idea, I presume we all agree 100%. When it happens, bury the maggots who did it, but don't blame others who don't behave that way just because they share a profession.

Texas police officer arrested on murder charge in fatal shooting of Black man at gas station Quote A Texas police officer who fatally shot a 31-year-old Black man Saturday night was arrested on a murder charge, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Monday night. Wolfe City Police Officer Shaun Lucas did not take reasonable action in the encounter that killed Jonathan Price, 31, a former Hardin-Simmons University football player, the state agency said. Jonathan Price. Jonathan Price.via Facebook Price's family has said he had intervened in a fight between a man and a woman at a gas station before the shooting. The department said that Lucas responded to a disturbance call about a possible fight in progress around 8:24 p.m. and made contact with Price. Lucas "attempted to detain Price, who resisted in a non-threatening posture and began walking away," according to DPS. Lucas, 22, used a Taser stun gun on Price, "followed by discharging his service weapon striking Price," the department said. Price was taken to a hospital where he died. "The preliminary investigation indicates that the actions of Officer Lucas were not objectionably reasonable," Texas DPS said in a statement. The Texas Rangers charged him with murder. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/texas-police-officer-arrested-murder-charge-fatal-shooting-black-man-n1242233

All things we need to understand first before we can say whether he had it coming or not.

Them startING to call out the BS that happens in front of them Is quickest way to regain public trust It's impossible to speak out about what isn't happening in front of you. Still, we know that incidents involving the unjustified use of force happen on rare occasions so they must be effectively addressed. I'll agree that the level of professionalism we run into varies from department to department. Some scrutinize their officers' actions in detail and others gloss over what was done. That is a problem that requires a lasting solution. If there is a culture problem with a particular police department, then those who establish the culture are responsible for the change. That's the leadership including any elected officials who play a role in it like a Mayor and the D.A.
