Posted May 30, 20204 yr I'm looking for the best Eagle that was acquired from divisional rival. I'll add a poll if we get enough suggestions. Right now the best player that comes to mind is Brian Mitchell. While he was a solid third down guy and a very good return man even in his later years, I feel like I'm missing some obvious ones. Who is the best player the Eagles acquired from a division rival?
May 30, 20204 yr There is not many on that list of players that had good success here from a div rival. Sadly the list is bigger of players we had and went to div rivals and had more success.

Keep things a little positive
May 30, 20204 yr Desean Jackson? I guess that was from Tampa but he did play for a division rival after playing for us.

May 30, 20204 yr Jeremiah Trotter v.2.0 was a pretty good pickup. IIRC he was signed to a long term deal and then released by the Deadskins. Then he came back to Philly and was a pro bowler.

May 30, 20204 yr Other than whats been mentioned the first name that comes to mind is Mark Bavarro Adding Bounty Bowls Louis Zendejas - Cowboys Eagles Cowboys with some other teams sprinkled in.
May 31, 20204 yr Could say Danny Amendola BUT we didnt see his talent that he actually had. Neither did the Cowboys.

He was originally an Eagle, but a good mention for sure. 3 hours ago, Bwestbrook36 said: I'll go Hershel Walker even though he went cowboys vikings then eagles. Hershel is actually who got me thinking of this. 3 minutes ago, EaglesFan said: David Akers That's probably the winner and I believe he was the one I was trying to remember. I went through Thrash and Mitchell because I was thinking it was a former Redskin.
May 31, 20204 yr There isnt much history of success. That's why I cringe anytime it happens (DeMarco Murray) or reported interest (Amari Cooper, Byron Jones). Just stay away from these guys. Players that originally played here, Djax, Trotter, etc., are a different situation.
May 31, 20204 yr Mark Bavaro had a good year with the Eagles after he left the Giants. His second year I believe he did not play as much. Shawn Barber signed on a one year prove deal with the team from Washington. He proved it and then left. But for my money, Brian Mitchell was the man. And yes, David Akers played briefly for Washington and had a great career here.

Not because we got him from the R-words as a FA. But we traded him BACK to them for a 5th round pick that became Trent Cole

He was originally signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of college...eventually cut and then signed by the Redskins. So it looks like the theory still stands that players that were here originally, then went to a division rival, then came back, seem to work out.

I didn’t qualify him as an eagles player because he didn’t play but I guess you’re right.
May 31, 20204 yr I don't know if I could even count Akers. He played 1 game for them and that was after being cut by 2 other teams.

We got him as a UDFA, cut him, R-words picked him up.
June 9, 20204 yr Man, I loved Brian Mitchell as a player...too bad he didn't love us haha said some pretty harsh things about Eagles Fans back in 2017
