A.J. Brown roasted by fans for iffy tackling effort

 

It certainly wasn't A.J. Brown's fault when Jalen Hurts made a bad decision and tried to squeeze a late pass into a non-existent window, resulting in a first-quarter interception by the Jaguars.

But it might've been Brown's fault that the interception wound up in the end zone.

Andre Cisco returned the interception 59 yards to put the Jags up 7-0 early in Sunday's game, but upon further review it seems Brown had quite an opportunity to prevent the score during the INT return.

It sure seems like Brown had a pretty good chance to tackle Cisco, or at least try to tackle Cisco, at the 45-yard line and just... didn't?

Maybe there's something we're all missing here, but it sure seems like Brown is gonna have to explain that one. 

If there's one thing Philadelphia sports fans don't stand for, it's a lack of effort. We'll see.

Really didn't like that one I have to say. I mean he responded and had a big day but yeah that was a bad look.

Didn’t Mailata get injured in the play also ??

To me…it seemed like he might’ve been trying to get the angle for the strip and never did…just from what I saw….

Yeah, it looks like a feeble effort........but i can't get worked up about it......it's not like the guy doesn't play his arse off every game........one bad play......give it a rest.

Mailata was hurt on the return.  Honestly I'm fine with my top skilled guys on O not getting injured on INT tackling.

Yeah he did which made it even worse!

Leave it to the man at the bottom of the totem pole at NBC to try to stir things up. 

Do NOT try to put a fence between Brown and fanbase.  The writer can disappear as far as I am concerned, but AJ Brown stays.  He wasn't signed for his tackling prowess.

You can forgive a bad play, but a bad effort puts him on the well deserved hot seat. 

He's still one of our guys, but now he knows what the fans expect.

To be fair, ^^^^ this guy straightened out after that moment and was really, really good the rest of his time here.

I'm confident that A.J. Brown will be too.

 

And when he tries to make up for that and gets hurt trying to tackle someone people will be asking what was he thinking trying to make a play because he screwed the season
