International Four Days Marches

The Corona virus is the cause for cancelling the 104th annual International Four Days Marches held in the Netherlands. Previously, the event has only been cancelled during World Wars. 
When I was stationed in Berlin a lifetime ago (1990-1994) I had the enjoyment of participating in this event once in ‘92 and practiced for a return in ‘93 but the Army had other plans for me, so I was a one-and-done.

Despite the pain (Groesbeek is the worst day - day 3), it was an amazing time. I made some new friends and lost a few toenails but frequently think about giving it another go!

We did 25 miles each day for 4 days. Full uniform, 22 lb sacks. We averaged 8 hours for the first three days, and just under 9 the last day.
