DESEAN JACKSON EYEING UP PHILLY RETURN, NAMES ANOTHER NFC TEAM HE’D LIKE TO PLAY FOR

14-year veteran DeSean Jackson has yet to play in the NFL this season, but he’s far from retired.

Jackson recently appeared in Philadelphia for a live edition of the I AM ATHLETE podcast and stated that he’s still looking for his next opportunity.

"Hell nah, I ain’t retired! I’m a free agent, and ready to go,” Jackson said when asked by Pacman Jones if he was done with football. The show’s producer, Omar Kelly, then asked Jackson if he had any preferred destinations. Jackson responded with the Eagles as his first option and Green Bay at No. 2.

"D-Jax” was initially drafted by the Eagles in 2008 and has spent eight seasons across two stints in Philadelphia. Injuries derailed his homecoming in 2019, but Jackson still displayed the big-play ability that has made him the greatest deep threat in NFL history.

As for the fit on the current squad, Philadelphia’s WR room is solidified with AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and co. The Eagles could perhaps use Jackson as a return man; undrafted rookie Britain Covey hasn’t inspired any confidence in returning punts thus far.

Regardless, DeSean Jackson returning home to pursue a ring with his original team would be a heartwarming story. Jackson currently holds the NFL record for most 60+ yard TDs and is second behind Jerry Rice for most 50+ yard TDs in his career.

No thanks. Really no role for him on the team right now, and given his age and injury history, his return would likely be short-lived even if he did somehow end up signing here.

He was here.  He was hurt the entire time.

Maybe Green Bay wants him?

One Day contract? Sure thing. Beyond that? Like someone else said, MAYBE as a returner, but only on a MINIMAL contract.

Exactly!  He barely played during his second stint here.
