A few times the eagles came up small on 3rd and short. They need to activate Trey Sermon and set either Scott or Gainwell for a game and see how we do on the short yardage situations. 

Has he had fumbling issues? Thats the only reason i can think of why he's not being used

He's not small enough

I think through 9 games he's obviously just not shown enough in practice to warrant a chance. I'm not saying that's right but that is how it seems. 

The Eagles have kept Sermon on the roster to date. That says a lot of how they feel about him. I think people just don't understand how much confidence the coaches have in Gainwell and Scott, though. I believe the plan with Sermon is to have him compete for a starting role next year if Sanders leaves in free agency. Right now it's a numbers game and they want Gainwell and Scott active when healthy. I'm not really sure where Sermon's game is in blitz pickup and blocking and that may be the big difference maker when deciding who to activate. 

As little as Sermon has been used, it will be interesting to see who the Eagles expose when it's time to bring Goedert, Davis, and Maddox back off IR. 

I remember reading something about the niners being frustrated with his run style and thought he danced too much rather than hitting the hole during his time there. 

Guys, it's Trey Sermon a 3rd round pick who couldn't even keep a 3rd string job with the team that drafted him a season ago, it's not like we're wasting prime Jim Brown as a healthy scratch.

Don't we only get 2 returns from ir or am I dated?

I think there are just a good number of fans who are frustrated we do not have a bulldozing Legarrette Blount type of back to use in short distance situations.  I have never been one of those beating the drum for that, but even I can see that it would be a useful thing to have.

Per NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo, the NFL and NFLPA agreed to amended IR rules during the 2022 offseason. Each team can now designate up to eight players to return from the Reserve/Injured or Non-Football Injury/Illness List. Each player may be designated to return twice in one season. However, both designations will tally toward the limit of eight. Players must remain on this list for at least four games prior to returning to the active roster. Teams can begin to designate players to return on August 31 this season.
