Initial thought  - no me gusta

Hiring an offensive coach to coach defense. Where have we heard this idea before?  🤔

Marcamentals doesn't have the same ring to it.

I think he will also consult on the offense but saying just d keeps the writers from asking about the o. They need another mind to help with the passing game. I said as much this morning here

Could just be someone to help out with self-scouting, not that he'll actually coach the defense.

Nick has probably already reached out to Reich.  My guess is he is taking the rest of the season off and turned it down.

Sounds like a move to appease the Sirianni given how over-the-top he was about Reich getting fired. Was very strange to me the way he shouted at the fans and talked about it in his presser.

Probably no chance the Eagles even consider to interview Sirianni if not for Reich putting in a good word for him to the Eagles.

At first glance, I thought it said they were hiring Marcus Brody.

Interesting comments from Greg Cosell today on The Herd.  Perhaps not so eloquent, but speaking about the Eagle's offense he said...

" The Eagles do not have an offense that runs a lot of different plays and concepts.  They are not a team that does a lot of different things on offense.  So as other teams see it they start to defend those things."

Hopefully this guy hired today can help us further develop the passing game because it is limited in what it does and so far is unable to incorporate the RBs and the 3rd & 4th WRs.  The offensive playbook and schemes need further development to succeed come playoff time vs the best teams.  Can't just throw to the same 3 guys every down.  Now with Goddard out and Brown hampered by his ankle I believe, we need to expand the play book and have other players targeted.  Use motion, different and new alignments, route concepts, heightened creativity.  The O needs more.  Maybe this new guy can help with that.

This is kind of an odd hire. In the middle of the season they add to the Coaching Staff?? Huh.

Can he play TE?

I don't mind it. New ideas and a fresh perspective on the offense and help with the defense. We've said we need to freshen it up a little.

It seems like this is the priority, from the above ****:

Brady is working with DC Jonathan Gannon, providing an offensive perspective.

...like he's not here for the offense at all.

Hmmm, didn't know I couldn't say tw*t. OK, twit then.

[EDIT] I mean, what cunning linguist doesn't orate, or mouth as we say, a few "tw*ts" here or there? I shall forthwith endeavor to reign in my loose tongue, and buckle down to adhering to the King's English.

Should have hired Frank R. 🤣

He was hired to replace Shane Steichen next year, he will get a HC gig somewhere else... Eagles just planning ahead thats all..

someone Siri knows from the Colts?  If Shane is a HC possibility elsewhere, having someone on staff for next year is not unreasonable.

Wonder if Reich will come on board to assist Nick?
