Posted December 6, 20222 yr Eagles did not clinch playoff spot in Week 13 The Eagles won, but the Commanders tied, and the Seahawks and Niners both won to deny an early playoff berth. BY NICK TRICOME PhillyVoice Staff GEORGE WALKER IV/TENNESSEAN.COM / USA TODAY NETWORK Eagles WR DeVonta Smith after making his first-quarter touchdown catch against the Titans Sunday at the Linc. The Eagles did their part with a 35-10 drubbing of the Tennessee Titans to improve to 11-1, but there will be no playoff berth this week. Washington battled the Giants to a tie on Sunday, and the Seahawks and 49ers managed wins in both of their Week 13 matchups, so the conditions for a very early ticket to the postseason were not met. Granted, it's still really early to be thinking about that, and at this point, it's a near inevitability that the Eagles will be playing more football come January (FiveThirtyEight projects them with a greater than 99% chance of making the playoffs). The bigger point right now is that the Eagles have reached the point in the season to start looking at clinching scenarios and with eyes toward greater aspirations of the best seeding possible. Following their win on Sunday, the Eagles have a pretty decent lead for first in the NFC East, although the Cowboys are behind them at 9-3 after their 54-19 rout of the Colts in primetime. The Eagles are also still ahead of Minnesota for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, but that margin is slimmer with the Vikings at 10-2. Here's a quick look at the standings: NFC East W L T Pct. Div. Eagles 11 1 0 .917 2-1 Cowboys 9 3 0 .750 3-1 Giants 7 4 1 .625 0-2-1 Commanders 7 5 1 .577 1-2-1 NFC W L T Pct. Conf. Eagles 11 1 0 .917 6-1 Vikings 10 2 0 .833 6-2 Cowboys 9 3 0 .750 7-3 49ers 8 4 0 .667 6-2 There's still plenty of work to do with five weeks left in the season, including a big divisional matchup against the Giants in the Meadowlands next Sunday, but the Eagles are approaching it all in about as good of a position as you could ask for. December 6, 20222 yr According to google search. The Birds can officially punch their ticket to the playoffs with a win or tie Sunday against the New York Giants, according to former NFL number cruncher Joe Ferreira. The Eagles will also clinch a playoff birth Sunday if both the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks lose in Week 14.

December 6, 20222 yr Need Minnesota to lose. We need to win the next 3, and 1st round bye is in the bag with 2 games left. Probably should try to beat NO bc of our draft pick. Aside for that NO and NYG are meaningless. I just glanced quick and that seems to be the formula as at worst, we would be tied with Minn but own the tie breaker.

I hope we play to win even if we are fortunate enough to have home field in the bag. Perhaps it is good that we have Minny and Dallas breathing down our necks so that we aren’t yet in that position and we play to win.
