Posted December 14, 20222 yr REPORT: EAGLES BRING BACK VETERAN SAFETY TO PRACTICE SQUAD By Victor Williams December 13, 2022 With injuries sustained to safeties CJ Gardner-Johnson and Reed Blankenship, the Eagles have brought back a familiar face to help fill the void until they return. Following a visit yesterday, veteran safety Anthony Harris has agreed to return to Philadelphia and re-sign with the team. Harris, 31, played in Philly last season and was expected to start alongside Marcus Epps this year, running with the first-team defense throughout training camp. Once GM Howie Roseman made the blockbuster trade for CJ Gardner-Johnson, Harris became expendable and was given the opportunity to find a starting role elsewhere. The eight-year veteran started 14 games for Philadelphia last season and totaled 835 defensive snaps. He led the Eagles secondary with 72 tackles and held his own in coverage, holding opposing QBs to a 51.1% completion percentage and 68.7 passer rating when targeted. With limited options at this point of the season, adding another body that knows the system is a wise move. Harris appeared in three games for the Denver Broncos this year before being waived last week. https://thelibertyline.com/2022/12/13/eagles-bring-back-anthony-harris/
December 14, 20222 yr Good to have a player back who knows this defense and can go in and play a little if he's needed. Sure he's past it and sure we don't want him being a starter for a number of weeks but he's an option. And he's experienced.
