I don't expect much activity in free agency. With a new contract for Hurts, Howie willhave to pull a rabbit out of his hat to sign eveb a few of our own free agents. With that being said let's say we retain BG, TJ Edwardsm Epps, Pascal, and Lovato.

Free agency -

  • CGJ, Bradberry, White, Hargrave, Cox leave from the defense.
  • Minshew, Sanders, Dillard, Seumalo, and Opeta leave from the offense.
  • We sign a veteran backup quarterback.

Draft  trades -

  • We start with 6 picks 2-1's, a 2, a 3, and 2-7ths.
  • With the number of holes free agency leave us with multiple trade downs are a necessity.
  • Trade the New Orleans pick for a 1, 2, and 5,
  • Trade that 1st round pick for a 1, 2, and 6
  • Trade the 1st round pick again for 2 2's
  • Now we have our own 1, 5 picks in the 2nd, a 3rd, a 5th, a 6th, and 2 7's.
  • During the draft we trade the 5 and 6 for a 4.

Draft -

  • 1 Joey Porter CB Penn State replaces Bradberry
  • 2 Gervon Dexter DT Florida replaces Hargrave
  • 2 Jordan Battle S Alabama replaces CGJ
  • 2 Zach Charbonnet RB UCLA replaces Sanders
  • 2 - Steve Avila C/G TCU replaces Jurgens who replaces Kelce and also replaced Opeta
  • 2 - Andre Carter DE Army replaces Robinson
  • 3 - Andrew Vorhees G Southern Cal replaces Seumalo
  • 4 - DeMarvin Overshown LB Texas replaces Kyzir White
  • 4 - Walter Rouse OT Stanford replaces Dillard
  • 7 - Clayton Tune QB Houston replaced Ian Book
  • 7 - Michael Turk P Oklahooma competes with Siposs.

The draft value chart works but the problem is finding dance partners.

Assume the 5th pick. It's worth 1700 points. Figure a trade that incldes a 1st round pick should be within 100 points in comparative value.  Based on draft position before week 15.

Pick 5 (1700) for 11 (1250) 43 (470) and a 5th (30)   = 1700 v 1750

Pick 12 (1200) for 18 (900) 50 (400) and a 6th (15) = 1200 v 1315

Pick 18 (900) for 35 (550) and 49 (410) = 900 v 960. Note: Seattle had these 2 2nd's umtil this weekend. Bears, Steelers, Seahawks, Lions and Panthers all have 2 2's

We have our own pick. 32. So how are we drafting Porter at that spot?

I'd draft Porter with the Saints pick right off the bat.

I agree with the sentiment that Porter likely isn't making it all the way to 32, I know it's still early in the pre-draft process but he is in the mix to be the 1st CB off the board. If we want him we'd have to use the Saints pick or maybe could land him with a small trade down.

  • 3 weeks later...

Any way we can get Myles Murphy in the 1st round? Might need to trade up to get him.

I also see a need to draft S CB Maybe OT.

Who do we like for a veteran QB backup? I like Baker Mayfield (I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit.)
