time2rock Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 EAGLES HEAD COACH NICK SIRIANNI PROVIDES AN UPDATE ON CJ GARDNER-JOHNSON’S INJURY STATUS FOR WEEK 17 By Brian Cass December 26, 2022 Eagles safety CJ Gardner-Johnson is eligible to return from the injured reserve this week after missing the previous four games. CGJ lacerated his kidney during the team’s Week 12 matchup with Green Bay. Typically, the recovery time table for a lacerated kidney is set at four to six weeks, which puts Gardner-Johnson on track to potentially play again before the regular season is over. Head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to the Eagles media today to provide injury updates on the handful of players who went down during the Christmas Eve contest in Dallas. In regards to CGJ, Sirianni was hesitant to give a straightforward answer. The Eagles head coach on Gardner-Johnson’s potential return "First of all, we need to see how everything is healing in there,” Sirianni said. "That’s a little bit harder to track… You gotta get the cat scans to see how everything is healing.” The Eagles coach continued to say Gardner-Johnson’s status for Week 17 is still very much up in the air and that the safety will undergo further testing on the lacerated kidney. Defensive Coordinator Jonathan Gannon has managed to mask CGJ’s absence pretty well over the past four weeks. It wasn’t until the Eagles defense ran into Dak Prescott and Co. Saturday night that his absence became glaring. The Eagles safeties were exploited early and often against Dallas. Reed Blankenship and Marcus Epps were targeted a combined six times on Saturday and allowed completions on every single one, allowing 99 yards and a touchdown in the process. Now that Avonte Maddox’s status for the remainder of the season is in serious doubt, Gannon’s defense could really use a healthy CGJ back in the lineup. We’ll get a clearer picture on his status for Week 17 against New Orleans later on this week. https://thelibertyline.com/2022/12/26/eagles-gardner-johnsons-injury/

UK_EaglesFan89 Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 If he can't make the injury worse then it may be a viable option if he's healthy enough to get out there. But they need to prioritise him getting healthy for the play offs.
