If Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham records just one sack over the next two games, Jonathan Gannon’s defense will etch their name into NFL history books.

Over the 100+ years of NFL football, no team has ever had four defenders record at least 10 sacks in a single season. The Birds already have three. If BG can tally one more in the sack column, that’ll give them four.

Eagles sack leaders:

  • Haason Reddick: 14.0
  • Josh Sweat: 11.0
  • Javon Hargrave: 10.0
  • Brandon Graham: 9.0
  • Fletcher Cox: 6.0

Hopefully, BG manages to record his tenth sack of the season in Week 17 en route to bringing home the victory. If the Eagles beat the Saints on Sunday, they’ll lock up the No. 1 seed in the NFC and clinch the NFC East title. The starters will likely sit the final week of the regular season with a win on Sunday.

As a team, the Eagles have accumulated 61 sacks on the year, which leads the NFL by 11. They’ve been on a rapid pace as of late, recording at least six sacks in each of the past four games. If the Eagles manage to keep that pace going over the next two weeks, they’ll break the single-season record for most sacks by a defense set by the 1984 Chicago Bears.

History is nice but a win would have been better. All these starts will be meaningless if they lose Sunday and don’t get a bye and then go one and done in the playoffs.
