You are not a doctor, and have no idea what his injury is, and what additional hits could do to his long term availability. The only thing that should be criticized is why you pass 32 times against the #2 pass defense, and only run it 14 times against the #23 rush defense. This was two weeks ago, Desmond Ridders first start, in New Orleans. The Falcons ran all over them.

They got in a hole and then he had to pass against a good team who took away their strengths. Don't get me wrong he sucks and I hope he takes his bus and gets the freak out of town, but the coaching staff didn't help him either. He freaking sucks...which is another reason they should have run the ball more. Agreed. Minshew just needed to manage the game, but that only works when your Offensive coordinator and head coach have a game plan. The Saints are a team you run against and nickel and dime them passing. The coaching staff decided to do the opposite and press Minshew into a role that he’s not suited for against an opponent that has a top 5 pass defense. This is not to excuse Minshew’s poor play, but the coaching staff set this offense up to fail all day long - and they did it in spectacular fashion.
January 2, 20232 yr Sirianni and Steichen need to be held accountable for their lack of preparation and foresight. You have to adjust your offense to the personnel running it. If you have a 3rd tier starter replacing your AP/PB RT, you adjust the game plan. Gardner is not, nor will he ever be a plug-n-play QB. If anyone needs a competent system around him, it is HIM. It baffles me that Nick and Shane didn't see that Minshew plainly is not Jalen and cannot make the plays or run the offense like Jalen, as it was. Gardner needs more for him to function at a high level. The coaches ran the same offense as when Jalen's in there. No, changes or adjustments. A little more quick hitter, WCO style plays. Usage of the TE more.

Now, either Hurts plays next week or someone needs to be held accountable by getting fired (whether it's Sirianni or someone else)!!!!!!!!!! They'd deserve a beating as well!!!!!!!! Nobody should be fired for them being cautious with Hurts. If anything the coaches on offense should be heavily criticized, not fired, for their crappy, awful game plan today and not running the ball more.
January 2, 20232 yr Risk injuring your MVP in a game vs the NO Saints when he is expected to be able to play healthy against the Giants was the smart play. Not putting the 3rd string QB in the game in the 4th qtr was a huge mistake. We now know that Gardner Minshew is not a good back up, at least give the 3rd string a shot to see if he's worth keeping next season.
January 2, 20232 yr The bigger loss for the Eagles is Lane Johnson. They're simply not the same team when he's not in the lineup. Not even close. If he's in, Minshew has more time and confidence to run the offense.
January 3, 20232 yr I don’t know I still think the right move was to keep Hurts on the sideline. I wish that Mishew was better than he showed in this past game. I think things might have been different if Mishew actually went out there and played as good as he thinks he is. All of the hype and all of the swag and he played like a chump. It would have been nice to give Hurts the month off to get healthy. Now we gotta risk it because Minshew and the coaches didn’t get the job done and now more guys got Hurt.
January 3, 20232 yr Dude you want everyone fired or benched after every single mistake. I really hope you aren't in charge of anything because it would be a disaster. That being said why don't you bench yourself from posting.... Here is some more exclamation points for you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's gotta be some sort of progress right?

But he’s not nearly as bad as people are making out. He’s a high level backup, capable of winning games. Just unfortunately couldn’t get it done on Sunday.

First he’s not as good as he thinks he is, nor is he as good as some have propped him up to be. Not only that so many have downplayed, criticized, and overall questioned the importance/ability of Jalen. Some were dumb enough to think these guys were equals or worse thought Minshew was flat out better. We saw the polls and the comments. They look like fools now.

I think in terms of polls, it was mostly last year/pre-season, where a lot were saying Hurts should be benched for Minshew. I've not seen any polls this year, but I'm pretty sure there have been some who agreed with the Parsons/Chris Simms take.

At this point there’s always going to be a case of possibly that at least until the season is over.

I never thought he was anything special, but he seemed game manager well enough to at least keep them in it. A far cry from this guy beating up on the Jets third string secondary. I think the Eagles were right not to risk Hurts for this game, but now they might not have much of a choice.
