Mainly we took massive steps backward each year, partly the result of not being able to replace the offensive coordinators with good hires- partly due to injuries ande Wentz losing his mojo from the concussion. None of those reasons were because they didn’t have an OC/DC established "before February 24th” as you foolishly placed your flag upon the hill you wanted to die on.
February 28, 20232 yr How do we feel about Desai? Can't say I'm thrilled about it. Not sure he's really ever been a highly regarded coach. But hey we thought that of Doug and Sirianni. I think we were hesitant about Steichen and even Reich before. He's got to be given some weapons to use and I guess let's see. But I'm not overly thrilled.

He has had some good mentors over the last few years in Fangio and Carroll.

And there have been other HC candidates over the years who we "missed out on" but that worked in our favour.
March 1, 20232 yr lm on board with both of the hires! Johnson was a no brainer. Desai has some good concepts but never really in a team with great talent. If they can keep the core in tact the defense will be better for sure.
March 1, 20232 yr Don’t know much about Desai other than he’s coming from Seattle, who philosophically put more emphasis on having playmakers in the secondary and LB than the Eagles have in recent years. Anyone think we’ll have a shift in where we put priority on defensive personnel?

I like that he has ties to Temple and that he received a Ph.D in education. I like that he was a DC for the Bears and that he got to work with Pete Carroll. This hire has Howie and Jeffrey's fingerprints all over it.

However after watching the video with him being miked up..I have a few reservations about his communication skills. I hope he succeeds and proves me wrong on the field, and there are no negative chemistry issues that he brings. The proof is in performance and not the style.

March 1, 20232 yr Author Eagles name Alex Tanney QB coach, plus other coaching staff updates BY JIMMY KEMPSKI PhillyVoice Staff KEVIN R. WEXLER/IMAGN CONTENT SERVICES, LLC Alex Tanney In addition to confirming reports that they have hired Brian Johnson to be their new offensive coordinator and Sean Desai to be their new defensive coordinator, the Philadelphia Eagles announced three other coaching staff updates. Alex Tanney was promoted to QB coach Tanney was an undrafted player out on Monmouth who played quarterback in the NFL for nine seasons, bouncing around between eight teams: • Kansas City Chiefs (2012) • Dallas Cowboys (2013) • Cleveland Browns (2013) • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014) • Tennessee Titans (2014–2015) • Buffalo Bills (2015) • Indianapolis Colts (2015) • Tennessee Titans (2015–2017) • New York Giants (2018–2020) "When we brought Alex in, almost everyone on our staff had coached him," Nick Sirianni said. "I was with him in Kansas City in 2012. Shane [Steichen] was with him in Cleveland in 2013. Jason [Michael] and Kevin [Patullo] were with him in 2014 with Tennessee. And shoot, maybe he threw passes to Aaron [Moorehead]. He's been everywhere." Tanney had 15 career pass attempts. After his playing days were over, he began his coaching career with the Eagles in 2021, and is quickly ascending. • Philadelphia Eagles (2021): Offensive quality control coach • Philadelphia Eagles (2022): Assistant quarterbacks coach/offensive assistant • Philadelphia Eagles (2023–present): Quarterbacks coach "What struck us was how smart he was and how hard he worked to stay on teams as the No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback," Sirianni said. "Even when we were in Kansas City, I still remember that Brian Daboll was having him do little projects for us to help us. You remember things like that, and I think the rest of the staff felt that as well. "When we interviewed Alex for the quality control spot, he did everything he could to be ready for that job. He took a computer class to teach himself how to draw on Vizio, which we draw our pictures on. He made sure he could do the part of the job that he was going to do. I really admired that and he worked really hard at that. That's a thankless job. A lot of us have had that job and it's thankless, but he excelled at that job. "And then we moved him into assistant quarterbacks, and he did some other things this year and he crushed that role too. I know in his mind he wants to eventually call plays and be a head football coach, but I know what he's going to do this year — exactly what he did the last two years, and he's going to kill his role and do everything he can do to help Jalen play better, to help us put together a plan, and work his butt off to do that. He's super smart, he connects with the players, and he's really worked to get everything he has, and I really admire that and I know he's going to be a great quarterback coach." Marcus Brady was named Senior Offensive Assistant Brady's coaching bio: • Montreal Alouettes (2009–2011): Wide receivers coach • Montreal Alouettes (2012): Offensive coordinator • Toronto Argonauts (2013–2017): Offensive coordinator • Indianapolis Colts (2018): Assistant quarterbacks coach • Indianapolis Colts (2019–2020): Quarterbacks coach • Indianapolis Colts (2021–2022): Offensive coordinator • Philadelphia Eagles (2022–present): Offensive consultant Brady actually succeeded Sirianni as the Colts' offensive coordinator after Sirianni became the Eagles' head coach. He was fired along with Frank Reich during the 2022 season, and subsequently hired by the Eagles as an offensive consultant. T.J. Paganetti was named Run Game Specialist and Assistant Tight Ends Coach Paganetti began his coaching career with the Eagles in 2013 under Chip Kelly and has had two separate stints with the team, in varying roles. https://www.phillyvoice.com/eagles-announce-three-coaching-staff-updates-alex-tanney-qb-coach-tj-paganetti-marcus-brady/

The point was they didn't have a plan before hand other than, "well if it happens we will have to do something". THATS THE POINT. The Exact same scenario played out in 2018- History does repeat itself, if you dont learn from it! Which they obviously didn't. LOL. And what is this "flag on what hill?". I stated facts, those are still facts are they not? Do you live in an alternate reality where the facts are not facts?

It's not like he was replacing Bill Bellichic, Gannon had an extremely talented roster and still sheet the bed in the SB. So Desai might be better or worse, we wont know, and likely it will take time to know considering the defense will not be as stacked as it was last year what really concerns me is that the Eagles tried to keep Gannon, after that poor SB outing- consider we had the best defensive roster this team has had since maybe 1991? and he totally blew it in the SB. The fact they tried to pay him more to keep him???? So that tells me they didn't think they could get an upgrade???

They think every other candidate out there is WORSE than him? Thing is... they have been RIGHT about things/coaches like this recently. 🤣

It’s when you try to make a point, that is consequently proven to be stupid/foolish, and then you try to change that point to something else and pretend "that was my point all along!”. also facts can be facts. But idiotic interpretations of those facts and facts without context can lead to stupid opinions and goalpost-moving. Which you have done. So we’re done here.

Also, where in that post am I supposed to assume you’re making "the point” that the eagles were "unprepared” and took the attitude of "well if it happens we’ll have to do something”? here’s a "fact”….. nobody will care about how long it takes to have an OC/DC in place in January when the eagles are in the playoffs. So that line you drew in the sand (since you seem incapable of understanding the "hill to die upon” parallel) was not only strange and borderline foolish, it will be moot and forgotten.
