No idea. It's not typical for several current and former NBA players to come out against someone like that. However, they have all played for the Kings so that should tell you something.

Sounds like Cousins set him up knowing his character and he didn't disappoint.

Fair enough.  I didn't hear any of this until now because I never heard of anything this guy actually said.  So there might be something to it or maybe he clashed with those players and they attributed it to being a closet racist.  I really don't know.

Edit:  Did those players say this before or after his tweet?

And now we are going to limit this to people who have been fired.. like there isn’t some huge outcry against anyone who dares to lean right. This is exactly how the whole "silent majority” thing happened that helped get Trump elected. You want to shout and shame people for leaning right or holding different views (NOT racist ones) and then sit there and pretend it doesn’t happen and wonder why there are more people out there that voted for him than you would have thought. You’re not interested in having any serious discussion about it and would instead like to pretend it doesn’t happen. It is wrong when people say things like there isn’t racism and it’s wrong when people claim this doesn’t happen either.

The reason the ONLY people you probably see on your social media that have extreme right views or literally are racist is because those people are ignorant and DGAF. But there are plenty of us out there that lean right and are not pigs but don’t share our views ever because we are immediately treated as evil and the term racist gets thrown around A LOT. Most people don’t want to be called that because it’s a horrible thing that we don’t want to be associated with.

Drew Brees had to make 14 different apologies because he said he doesn’t believe in disrespecting the flag   The only thing that was "wrong” about what he did is he was too stupid to realize that he was going to get excoriated for it and should have kept his mouth shut like the rest of us do.

The first person to use the word "racist" in this thread was you.

They said his reply was to be expected because they know who he is. It sounds like he built up a reputation. I think Webber said he even informed ownership a long time ago about it.

Both you and hunt insinuated he was wrong and wanted a reaction. Hubbard additionally was clearly offended - whether it’s because he views it as racist or he just doesn’t agree you are all clearly indicating that there is something "wrong” with the coach wearing that shirt.

Just want to clarify that I did not call Gundy racist. Hell, I even said I didn't think he was at all.

Wearing an extreme-right, extreme-left, Trump, or Biden shirt is clearly trying to illicit a reaction. That's just common sense.

Gotcha.  Most of what I found is them stating this after the fact.

"Demarcus we know and have known who grant is. The team knows as well. I’ve told them many times. They’ve seen it. They know who he is,” former Kings All-Star Chris Webber said.

Haven't seen that about Webber yet (and I really do need to start doing work soon  )

Also it seems like he and Cousins had a long standing feud.  And Grant wasn't exactly civil in it either

Quote

"If there is any player in the NBA that should not be talking about fan behavior, and about how to treat athletes as opposed to people, it’s DeMarcus Cousins,” Napear said on his radio program he hosts with former Kings star Doug Christie back in 2019. Cousins called out Toronto Raptors fans for cheering when then-Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant suffered a season-ending Achilles tendon injury and Napear wasn’t having it.

"This guy is the crudest, most vile player that I have ever been around in my 31 years in the NBA,” Napear said.

But you are dead on that it seems like they (for lack of a better term so I'll use your words) "set him up"

It's a propaganda network that spends all day lying and shamelessly heaping praise on one man.  I don't necessarily think it's racist, but to wear a shirt supporting it is flat out embarrassing.  It's akin to wearing a DPRK "News" shirt.

Yeah, Cousins clearly knew what he was doing but Napear doesn't exactly sound like an amazing guy.

i said he wore a shirt that would get a reaction & shouldn't be surprised when it gets a reaction. never said it was wrong. never insinuated it either.

"the media" is a political issue these days...not sure how that happened. maybe when a guy ran for potus on "fake media"...idk.  but it is. so yeah, wearing a t-shirt with a news organization that is known for being far left or right is going to garner some attention.

Again, fair enough.  I never heard anything before about him being a dbag.  I'll go with 25% him not saying things publicly before this that got attention and 75% that he is in Sacramento

Don't worry, this coach may get knocked down, but he'll get up again.
