Apparently the "real" Simcoe was actually considered a "forward thinking" and honorable officer for the period, but they needed somebody to fill the role and the actor was masterful. The guy who place Benedict Arnold was also in The Mentalist, a show I had to sit through with my grandparents when there were still alive because my late grandmother found the main guy very fetching .. either way, the character he played in The Mentalist was kind of a big doofus, so it was weird seeing him in this role. Good actor though. Anna Strong ...
