Posted February 11, 20232 yr Questionable with a hammy. Devonta or Quez would likely be up... Thoughts?
February 11, 20232 yr He's a sure handed PR, asking devonta to pick up the load opens him up to more hits. Hopefully not having covey has zero negative impact on the game
February 11, 20232 yr I'm not sure when the deadline for elevating a player from the PS is, but we do have Greg Ward there if they think it's important enough.

Hopefully not having covey has zero negative impact on the game After Reagor it’s nice to have a sure handed PR guy - even if his returns are less than 5 yards usually. DeVonta could break one but agreed on not wanting him exposed to those hits. It is the Super Bowl though so all hands on deck for everything.
February 11, 20232 yr I hope he plays - he's secure with the ball. Even if he doesn't always get much back, I don't recall seeing Covey drop a ball. Security is what's needed here
February 11, 20232 yr Not a big deal. They have other players on the team that can fair catch a punt, let alone offer up a return.
February 11, 20232 yr Ward has been elevated (likely as an insurance policy). https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/eagles/eagles-activate-arryn-siposs-elevate-greg-ward-and-anthony-harris

February 11, 20232 yr Hopefully, whoever is the Eagles PR on Sunday, has to make like 8 fair catches during the game.
February 11, 20232 yr He's not definitely out at this point but if he does miss the game I don't think it's a big blow for the team. He's been a steady PR this year in terms of securing the fair catch but he offers nothing.

February 12, 20232 yr They activated Ward for the game. Covey has not returned many punts yet, so even with his injured hammy won't make much difference. He was in the 49ers game at the end, but that was knee-down plays and he was the deep man. Ward being a vet but rusty, doubt if they will use him much in offense, if he is in the game.

February 12, 20232 yr Historically, in huge games like this (NFCCG/Super Bowls), teams tend to use their best players - even on special teams/returning kicks, etc. Although Covey would have likely remained in that role for this particular Super Bowl (since he's done a good job, especially later in the season) him not returning kicks could have happened regardless - since teams tend to use their best starters (even returning kicks) in games like this.
