Why do all these articles state Jason Kelce lacks "true NFL size"?

It's in his wikipedia: "Despite lacking true NFL size, Kelce was projected a fourth to fifth round pick[8]" and if you google the same term with his name countless other articles say the same thing.

But what does that mean? The dude is 6'3" and 295lbs, what about that isn't "true NFL size"?

There's a standards that NFL teams use for size, speed, agility, athleticism and so on.....that's the physical traits that NFL teams desire.....measurable.

But it's difficult to classify players when it comes to in game intelligence, experience, technique, coachability......that's the developmental aspects of players that are difficult to assess at draft time.

At this point in his career, its idiotic to say he's not "true NFL size" when the guy is a perennial pro bowler and future HoFer.

Which of any of those is he lacking?

His profile coming out of college, he was listed as 6 '2 1/2" and 280 lbs.   He was athletic, but his size was not typical of NFL centers.  And he only played on year at center in college.

So the size argument was borderline and he clearly needed to add weight and I think he went 6th round because of his lack of experience at the center position.

But it's ridiculous for sportswriters to continue to mention it....
