Hard to call it a failure when the team made the SB. Time will tell how good of a draft class it was though. If more of them can contribute next season and not miss a beat with some guys leaving in FA then it is a good class.

There should be a baseline level IQ test that people have to pass to post here. Asking if a draft class is a failure after one year, with the main point being they didn't produce in one game?? You can't even make this crap up.

And that’s the thing right there. When you’re a contender, you shouldn’t be counting on rookies to play a big role. You’re drafting these guys so you have replacements for veterans who haven’t left yet but are likely to need to be replaced a year or two down the line.

Davis will be the guy to hopefully replace Cox. Dean to replace White or Edwards. Jurgens to replace Kelce (or Seamalu if Kelce stays this year). If you’re drafting with the expectation of rookies playing a major role, then you’re probably in trouble.

The key will be to keep drafting players who can be ready to contribute in year 2 or 3. That’s how you remain a contender when you have a QB making franchise money.

any speculation on which 1st rounder Howie will trade?

very unlikely that he keeps both and will it be for another player or to stockpile picks?

I suspect that he would want to stockpile in this draft, not defer too many to 2024

Not much more to add. Future looks great for that class. I am positive barfing injury Dean will be a fan favorite and a monster for this team.

my guess is 10 to drop back and pick up more picks. can get better haul for that pick unless guy we love is there at 10

Too soon to tell.

This.

Look at the 2017 Draft Class when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. TATE was hyping up every pick because we had Joe "Draft Guru" Douglas helping Howie. (Howie finally had a football guy!)  That being said, it does seem like we had a little more contribution from this draft class during their rookie seasons.

1. Derek Barnett - strip sack in NFC Championship game and recovered the game winning strip sack fumble in the Super Bowl

2. Sidney Jones - IR his rookie season but ultimately a BUST

3. Rasul Douglas - had some playing time due to injuries and picked off Cam Newton in the Panthers game I believe.  Went on to have success with Green Bay.

4. Mack Hollins - had a deep ball TD against Washington (infamous backpack dance celebration) and a few other big catches his rookie season.  Moderate success with his subsequent teams.

5. Donnel Pumphrey - LOL

5. Shelton Gibson - BUST

5. Nathan Gerry - Was a starter for a while but not very good.

6. Elijah Qualls - Don't even remember him to be honest

no

Davis has played well all year, just with limited snaps due to the guys in front of him. He will have a bigger role next year. He is going to be great.

Jurgens was behind Kelce… how was he going to make an impact this year? He looked good in camp, and will either take over if kelce retires this offseason, or may move to guard to replace Seamalu if he leaves in FA.

Dean played very well in his extremely limited opportunities. White is likely gone in free agency, and Dean will slide into that starting role.

I think all three are going to turn out to be very good to great players. What did you expect in their rookie years? When you have a Super Bowl roster, you SHOULDN’T expect rookies to get a ton of snaps.

You say maybe they drafted the wrong players, but tell me where there was room for ANY rookies to play much? The roster was pretty loaded almost at every position. Maybe a better safety than Epps but other than that? I don’t see where any rookie was going to play much at all for the eagles this year.

Exactly, we had the luxury of letting them sit behind great players for a year amd develop. Davis, Jurgems and Dean have all shown tape that they can play in the NFL and likely will be solid starters for years.  They only question I have is whether they will develop into pro bowl players. Calciterra showed flashes of being a quality back-up TE but the jury is still out.

Lol we are spoiled by the 2021 draft class. How is it a failure when almost all of them contributed in some form on a loaded football team?
