Not a bad replacement.

ESPN's Adam Schefter believes Eagles QBs coach Brian Johnson will be promoted to offensive coordinator.

This isn't a done deal, but Schefter said on 97.5 The Fanatic "you can basically take that to the bank" when discussing the likelihood of Johnson's promotion. It makes sense for all sides involved, as Johnson has been instrumental in Jalen Hurts' development over the last two seasons, and has a relationship that dates back to Hurts' childhood. Schefter also notes Johnson's meteoric rise in the coaching world, saying he "would've been handed at least six offensive coordinator jobs" around the league if the Eagles didn't promote him.

And then I'd guess Patullo or Brady gets the QB coach gig.

Not really a surprise. He sounds like he’s a rising star and will probably end up as a HC in a couple years himself.

Strongly in favor of Brian Johnson as OC.

Has worked with jalen since he was a kid.  No brainer to me.

This was the obvious decision. You can’t have Jalen lose his OC and QB coach in the same offseason, which had a strong likelihood of happening, whether that is following Steichen or Gannon to be their OC, or being hired elsewhere.

There were rumors about the Jets and Ravens wanting him, and my total guess is that by then the Eagles knew Steichen was going to Indy so the Eagles probably told him if he stays put the Eagles OC job would be his.

That is the likely scenario.  Eagles I believe still have to go through the Rooney Rule before they can officially promote him, however, and that is why it's taking a while.

I thought Eagles were going to lose this guy instead of the two coordinators.

Why would they have to do that… you realize Brian Johnson is black, right? Interviewing/promoting him already satisfies it.

Nevermind, didn’t realize they changed the rule in 2021 to make it even dumber than it already was. So they have to interview at least one external minority candidate, even if the internal hire is already a minority? Make it make sense.

would his gig as an OC affect his touring and recording schedule with AC/DC?

I mean Jalen Hurts is still a rather young QB and going into his fourth year having the same QB coach whom is now your OC is probably good for his development. If he will no longer be involved as the QB coach he'll still be managing over the QB coach which again is good for Jalen Hurts. If you are worried about him as an OC keep in mind Nick is still the final decision in the offense and that's his speciality.
I am more concerned with who the Defensive Coordinator will be since it isn't HC Nick's speciality. He will need a great DC if the Eagles are going to repeat. One that won't change things up too much if GM Howie retains most of the defense. It would be nice if it was a former DB player such as Deion Sanders, Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins HOF type person that can make the transisition to DC.

It makes sense because it gives Hurts and Sirianni some consistency. Hurts has an established relationship with him and he's highly regarded it seems so that just feels like a no brainer.

I think they had to do that because the NFL realized not doing so could have opened themselves up to white supremacist/nationalist organizations filing lawsuits against the NFL as before that, teams could promote a minority to HC without other interviews but not someone who was white.  That could have played out but someone in the NFL caught that.

And no, I didn't realize Brian Johnson was black.

I had heard Alex Tanney was a name there but Brady always made the most sense to me so we'll see

Dallas as well, since he has working with Dak at Miss. St, on his resume.  Houston native, the allure to go home was there - but the biggest difference would be McCarthy taking over the offense and calling plays again.  Siri wisely refraining from going back to the future........the good news for me is that although I don't know how much the O is affected with a new play caller of unknown quality........ with Gannon gone my list of coaches to despise is reduced to one.............😡

Johnson knows Hurts and more importantly the best career move for him to is to stay with all the talent he knows.  He only has to hold serve with offense and he'll be looked at as a HC quickly. This isn't a case where he needs to prove he can do it somewhere else imo

Who is Brady?

Marcus Brady.  He was QB coach in Indy when Sirriani was OC.  Then Reich made him OC then Reich fired him this year mid-season before he got fired and the Eagles hired him as a consultant so he's been on staff

Brian is as obvious a choice for the OC promotion as Flip would have been in 2018. He's the guy.

My concern is the QB coach, Brian will be a HC in short order, maybe even in 12 months time, we will need the next rising star at QB coach who can take the reigns.
