With the Super Bowl in the rearview mirror, the Eagles and 31 other NFL teams will start the process of financially retooling with the goal of advancing to the postseason.

Joel Corry of CBS Sports recently took an inside look at key offseason dates starting with the first week of the 2023 league year, which begins March 15.

Some dates will free up cap space for Philadelphia, while other dates will force GM Howie Roseman to make some hard decisions.

Here’s a look at the key dates and players impacted.

The waiver system for 2023 has started and players with fewer than four years of service for benefits purposes are subject to waivers and their contracts can be claimed by other teams.

The contracts of 19 different NFL players will be void, including Eagles cornerback James Bradberry and Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave.

Philadelphia will accrue $4.972 million and $11.956 million in 2023 cap charges from the bonus proration in Bradberry and Hargrave’s voiding contract years.

All 19 players will be unrestricted free agents at the start of the 2023 league year.

Seumalo’s contract voids out 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026, as he becomes an unrestricted free agent at the start of the 2023 league year.

Philadelphia will accrue a $7.85 million cap charge from Seumalo’s 2023 through 2026 bonus proration after voiding.

At the start of free agency, the Eagles will have a 10-day window to pick up options in wide A.J. Brown and edge rusher Haason Reddick’s contracts.

Brown would be due a $10.17 million payment that is required for a dummy 2027 contract year. His 2023 base salary would reduce from a fully-guaranteed $11.25 million to a fully-guaranteed $1.08 million with the option being exercised.

The remaining $16,470,471 of Brown’s $20.25 million 2024 base salary is fully guaranteed.

For Reddick, he’ll be due a $15.17 million payment which is required for a dummy 2027 contract year. His 2023 base salary would then reduce from a fully-guaranteed $16.25 million to a fully-guaranteed $1.08 million with the option being exercised.

In all, the two options would save Philadelphia $25 million in cap space as those salaries become automatic payments or bonuses.
