I don't know as that would make sense, according to Sportrac, the 3 void years (2026-28) on Lane's contract only void if he's on the roster until February 2026, and those years are expensive, drafting a guy at 10 to do nothing but play swing tackle for at least 2 seasons would seem a waste to me.

Wouldn't be a waste. If we have a chance to add a player that is relatively close to Johnson's ability, we should take him. It's a huge impact when Johnson misses time because he's that good and we don't have anyone on the roster to replace his level of play. He's had his share of injuries and over the course of the next 2 years, what are the odds he makes it through unscathed? Plus, if this team is going to remain good, what are the chances we pick in the top 10 again in the next couple years? I'm 100% good with drafting an OT at 10. Not saying that's what I would do, but I'd be ok with it. The better question is if Paris Johnson, Skoronski or Jones are worthy, talent-wise. I'd prefer someone like Cody Mauch in Round 2, but that's just me.

They might wait on OT high for now, but at his age and starting to have a little bit of injuries you at least need depth. So maybe an OT who is versatile to play Guard as well drafted in mid rounds. But if a 1st or 2nd round pick I think of it like Jurgens, learn & develop a year or two. Is Jurgens a waste? I like O line depth.

I'd also like to see DT, DE/Edge, CB just get a top 10 worthy player.

I think you absolutely can have a 2nd round player sit for a year, i think you can have a late first round player sit for a year, I don't think you take a top ten player to sit for a year (or two). I don't think Paris Johnson is worth 10 and the drop off from him to taking Broderick Jones or Darnell Wright at 20-30 isn't that big (plus Wright is a natural Right Tackle), I like Mauch but again it's the North Dakota thing, is he a great player, or just a good one beating up on sub standard guys?.
