March 7, 20232 yr If we don't bring him back not having any picks in rounds 4-6 is going to hurt that much more...means we gave up two picks for a rental and didn't win the big one.

June 1st for Slay frees up $17million, that should be enough to get something done, Bradberry's a good starting corner, but is he worth $20million dollars a year?

That's what I see happening. Slay is not worth the money, he's on the downside and we should not be kicking even more money down the road for him. We should be cutting ties and spreading the dead cap hit to open up more room this season. This is the year we need to be using two first rounder on Corners ... there is no better time with such a good, deep class. Bring back guys like Epps and Edwards who won't break the bank and concentrate on building the D through the draft.

This CJGJ situation is getting dangerously close to that. They traded for the player and it is doubtful they resign him. I hope they do though.
March 8, 20232 yr If i had to guess, CGJ's requested asking price is much more than what Howie is willing to give him. Seems like either an extension or a tag would of been done by now. Hoping I'm wrong.

The timing of the Wilson firing probably didn't help this situation. CJGJ often credited him for his success. So yeah... I'm starting to think he's out.

Howie has yet to figure out that in order to sustain a winning tradition you have to do it through the draft, I came to this conclusion because of how he doesn't seem to value draft picks. There are many UDFAs that make teams and are major contributors to the success of those teams, when you look at it from that perspective, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds picks are valuable.

We need to trade down 2-3 times to fill all these holes. I think Howie sees that
March 8, 20232 yr Get ready to have a dog$hit defense next year. Better hope the Offense doesn't sustain any significant injuries.
March 8, 20232 yr It's hard to gauge with over half of the games he missed being out of division opponents but was there a huge difference in defensive performance with CGJ back there and not? Maybe he makes a difference in the Cowboys game, but does he win that game for us?

To me the question isn’t whether Blankenship and Epps are comparable to CJGJ and Epps, but it’s whether CJGJ and Blankenship are significantly better than Blankenship and Epps. I think letting Epps walk and starting Blankenship along with CJGJ would be a pretty noticeable upgrade.

A top 15 contract would put him on around $13mill a year average, Slay is on $16.9mill on his current contract and his number next year is most expensive in the NFL at 26mill, I think Bradberry will land around $15-18mill per for 3 years. I agree Hargrave will make bank, he's a consensus top 5 free agent.

Yeah, it’s a really bad look to publicly call out coaches or teammates. Particularly when he had more interceptions this year under Gannon than in the rest of his career combined. My sense is that the Eagles made him a fair offer, but CJGJ wants more. He’s good but not as good as he thinks. Hopefully he and the Eagles still find a way, but it seems doubtful now.
March 8, 20232 yr The Eagles have always valued the Lines above all else ... my guess is that they have a plan to spend what money they have available there and rebuild the 2ndary through the draft. Maybe re-upping Seumalo or maybe bringing in a DLineman like Dre'Mont Jones.

I agree, CGJ as good as he is doesn't really fit the culture that the Eagles front office looks for.

I also agree with this, this off season Howie made the comment more than once that they will continue to concentrate on the areas they value the most and that's in the trenches.
