Posted June 23, 20204 yr Eagles QB Carson Wentz among the best in NFL on first- and second-read throws Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz doesn’t believe in the check-down throw, one of the reasons why he’s guilty of holding the ball too long. For Wentz, progressing through the read is a must and according to Pro Football Focus, the Eagles star is one of the best in the league when it comes to making something happen after his first read disappears. Wentz is always able to find somewhere to go with the football, and he graded out at No. 4 on a list of quarterbacks who were elite on non-first-read throws (min. 100 attempts). Seahawks star Russell Wilson led the league in PFF passing grade on plays in which he had to target his second or third read and he is the only passer with a grade still above 90.0 (103.7 on those plays). Wilson is followed by Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees following closely behind Wilson. https://theeagleswire.usatoday.com/2020/06/22/philadelphia-eagles-nfl-carson-wentz-first-and-second-read-throws-pff-russell-wilson/ I know it's good for a QB to be ranked in any stat but I think we'd all prefer him to be ranked higher when he has to work through his progressions.
