Nolan Smith (Georgia EDGE) -- DRAFTED BY EAGLES #30!

This man ran a 4.3 today. Good lawd

He’s probably climbing draft boards through the combine, but he’s a little light for an edge at 238. Has the athleticism to play the Reddick role, but I think we need a replacement in the BG role. A power rushing, run defender edge.

Depends on what look the new coordinator will go with.

Even with a 3-4 we already have Sweat and Reddick

Sweat/Reddick likely only play 70% of the snaps - there’s room for another player to get a decent amount. While Sweat is a superior pass rusher, Nolan can do more things as a OLB to mix things up in base situations.

Yeah... I'm all for loading up on pass rushers for rotation given the success they've had doing that. Considering who we have at DC I'm guessing they'll be expecting to get home without blitzing much again. If the 2 top corners are gone I'm trading down a bit from 10 to grab Van Ness or Kancey. If they need some more picks, trade down from 30 and work from there.

Edge explosiveness: Nolan, McDonald IV, Trenton Simpson potential pass rushing Reddick type archetypes would be high on my list.

Edge guys with some sand in their pants targets: Will Anderson, Tyree Wilson (likely won't be there at 10) Van Ness, Adebawore

DTs Kancey, Gervon Dexter, Keanu Benton

I'm heavy defense for the draft based on need but still think we need a WR3 that can return punts, TE2 (class is deep with talent), and RB1/2 (I really like Izzy we do well with Pitt RBs :)) OG (depth). Will be interested to see what holes will open and be filled during the FA and trade period before the draft.

I feel Smith is the most likely pick as of today

If the Eagles take Smith, they'll definitely be rebuilding that Georgia D, lol.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about taking Smith...especially at 10.  He seems like a guy that has to be used correctly in order to produce.  In other words, he's not scheme versatile. That said, he could be great in the Reddick role and at times perhaps pairing him with Reddick could be fun to watch.

I've watched several film breakdowns (not just youtube highlights) and this kid has special, explosive traits. I think he's going to be a terror at the next level and be much better than what we saw from him in college. Even though they used him primarily near the LOS, his quickness and change of direction is that of a Defensive Back. Unlike Reddick who can't cover anyone (elite pass rusher, but he can't cover me out of the backfield) ... Smith can easily play LB as a 3-4 OLB and not just a rush LB.

Nolan smith is a beast. I’d Probly take him at 10 depending on who goes before.

Not at #10. We already have Reddick in that mold. They need a DT or bigger edge rusher if they go DL at #10 or better. #30 if he's there.

Why not have reddick take over for Graham when he’s done and smith learn behind reddick in the role for a year while getting valuable snaps?

reddick is more of a pure pass rusher anyway.

Reddick doesn't have BJs size and strength. different roles and style of play

Fair enough. Definitely think we could benefit from having 2 blitzing linebackers that can work in at de still. If Micah parsons was in this draft he would be a lock for a top ten pick. Parsons is 6’3” 245. Nolan smith is 6’3” 235. Both ran a 4.39. Definitely think smith can add ten pounds with an nfl training staff and be our parsons. Parsons lines up on the d line often for the cowgirls.

Great athlete no doubt. Combine was great. Will definitely go in the first.

I think he’s going higher than you think. Mocks will change magically in next 3 weeks

Gotta say, I don't mind the idea of the Eagles Defense being Georgia Bulldogs North.

That UGA team might be the best Defense in College Football history.

I wouldn't be surprised. He destroyed the combine so folks may reach higher on ceiling. I wouldn't though.

One of my very few draft crushes this year. Would be happy with us drafting him, preferably after a small trade down.

That would be the best case scenario in my opinion. Trade down into the teens and get more picks and still land smith. Howie can pull it off.

+ Bijan = me muy happy

Smith has good potential but he is not a top 10 guy. He is light, not a good pass rusher and injury prone. I don’t think he is better than Will McDonald to keep it real
