2024 comp picks are great but you're talking about at best pick 99 and often much later. That means IF they turn out you're probably looking at 2025 before any real expected contribution.  You could trade those comp picks for established players but you'd have to hit the sweet spot of cost controlled good players which is difficult.  The other caution is that these value signings don't often work out as well as they did last year.

Can’t argue with any of those points.  I wouldn’t expect most mid-to-late round picks to become starters.  Having those extra picks just gives us more flexibility to be able to move up in earlier rounds if there is a player we covet or to use as part of a trade package for a veteran player that we feel could really help (like CJGJ this year).  And no doubt it shouldn’t be an expectation that the value signings work out as well as they did for the most part this year … it happened in ‘17 as well but the 4 years between was a bit hit or miss (more the latter than former).  It’s unfortunate the value signings we made early last offseason didn’t end in a championship but at least we will get something in return as they walk now (the comp picks … it’s better than getting nothing).

Guess Brown is going to be a top target in day 2 for the Eagles

They'll draft someone but before the draft we'll either have Mills or Byard in the fold.

Mills is more realistic than Byard. I don’t think we have enough cap to take on that cap hit

I don't doubt we still make a move there. I'd take Byard if money makes sense

Brown can play. I think he becomes a key piece of our secondary by 2024
