Wow really? BG? I’m extremely biased toward him but that’s some of the best news of the offseason, keep all 3 10+ sack edge rushers together. He’ll set the eagles record for games played for the team, and is a huge locker room influence.

Depending on how Howie words the contract, this’ll also move a lot of his dead money back a year or more, meaning it may not be much of a hit on our 2023 cap

Yep.  Would have incurred a dead money hit of $18.3M to the 2023 cap (assuming the prorated bonus spread over the 3 void years would have accelerated into the 2023 cap).  Regardless, he demonstrated he can still play at a relatively high level when used properly (as part of a rotation) and is an excellent locker room influence.  Extremely happy to have him back.

Another factor is not only the dead cap, but then additional cap and/or draft resources would have to be spent to replace him. He’s not exactly a camp body we’d be replacing. That’s big too, we got a starting DE before FA begins

I fully expected BG to be back, but good news.

Awesome.  Think you could add the latest either in the title or the original post?  Makes it easy to see the summary/latest.  Thanks!

thank you very much sir!

Great news. Love BG.

who’s next?

Love BG, glad he is back. It means Cox is as good as gone, will miss him.

Cox was cut then re-signed to a new 1 year deal and they traded up for Jordan Davis.  Everyone has known Cox would be leaving so that shouldn't be a surprise.  I would be surprised if he actually re-signed.

It'll all come down to the numbers but I don't think it's a lock that Cox is gone.  With Hargrave already out the door Cox could be a decent rotational piece with Davis and whatever draft pick we bring in.

I like the move, but I hope they didn’t overpay.

Eskin thinks he will be back

I think the Eagles would like to bring Cox back but at the right price. If he leaves, it'll probably be because Howie won't meet his asking price. I really believe they want to keep there core, Cox, Graham, Kelce and Johnson here as long as they can while still playing at a high level.

He’s not worth $14M/year at the level he is playing currently.  He should follow in Graham’s footsteps and accept a reduced role (his salary commensurate with his play time).

Do you have a source for this Brandon Graham news?  All I see so far is a rumor by Eskin that he thinks the Eagles are bringing him back and Eskin is one of the most unreliable people out there.

I agree, time will tell. I really like Fletch, and I think he has a year or 2 left in him. When he turns it on he can still cause havoc and demands the double team, but at what price?

That’s my thinking as well. He likely wants to finish his career here so paying him like $7-8 MM a year on a one or two year deal as a rotational guy makes sense. We need a couple FA DEs to stay even if we draft one and he’s gotta be at the top of the list.

Two years, 12 million is a team friendly bargain. Good job on both sides to get this done.

On a side note, I would take Cox back on the same deal.

I don't know that it's real.  People speculate then it gets reported as fact

Howie about to do his cap magic again. This is when he shines.

Again, being a bit too loose here with posting what are just rumors at this point as confirmed deals.

Eagles release OL Brett Toth
