Howie is playing chess out there.

The longer he sits, the better his chances are of returning unless Howie decides to go in a different direction. Howie’s showing he can be patient and so far many of the players are literally taking less to stay.

Must be those soft camps that many were complaining about. soft camps == team takes care of their players :)

Byard is better.  CGJ is kind of overrated. His main talent seems to be swagger and he can't tackle.

Come on man... don't downplay the man's skill. He had a really good season for the first time changing positions. Actually a great season considering. Just didn't show enough in that short time to warrant these huge contract expectations.

I don't think he's overrated, but I definitely agree that Byard is better. I would prefer to sign CJ due to his age but I'd be fine if they went with Byard instead.

The Eagles got all of their starters to the SB game. Really what hurt them was the field and some suspect referee call. They didn’t get it done, but there’s something to be said for how the Eagles medical department got all of their guys to the finish line.

At this point maybe teams are scared to cross Howie. 😂🤣😂

Yes... and... FU Gannon.

Greedy Williams looks like.... Chris Rock. 🤣

Maybe. Not every year works out like last year. Sometimes they bring in a vet that doesn’t make it through camp

Still plenty of time to bring guys in. After the draft a lot of pieces settle due to teams having an abundance at a position. And then after pre-season the same thing happens. There will be trade opportunities and draft picks. Nakobe Dean from last season will be expected to play significant snaps.

I do think he's overrated but I think this is kind of harsh. The thing is, he does have really bad tackling issues. He's also one of the best slot defenders in the league from the CB position IMO. I think the thing is, some of those things that make him good there make him worse at S, and he doesn't really adjust those bad habits.

I think he's 'meh' at safety with the upside of him being pretty good at catching the football. And I think that's why he's not getting the money he wants, honestly.

Losing Seumalo hurts, probably more than most Eagles fans might think. Sure we might be able to slide Jurgens into that spot, but if that happens, our depth along the line is almost non existent. An injury or two and the wheels fall off. And when Jurgens theoretically moves to center the following year, we’re still going to have a massive hole at right guard. Offensive line has to be a big draft target now, which kinda sucks because I was hoping they’d go defense exclusively in the first couple rounds.

The Seumalo false start in the Superbowl might have cost the game for us.

I think a number of plays did but yeah that is one of them I think.

So how many starters from the Super Bowl team have they lost now? 6, 7?

6 starters: Hargrave, Edwards, Epps, White, Sanders, Seumalo

If you want to include backups, then 2 more:  Minshew, Dillard

Still TBD:  CJGJ

Seumalo's deal is reportedly a 3 yr $24M deal.  Post #1 updated.

Bumps Sanders from the projected compensatory pick equation ... instead of a projected 6th we'll receive a projected 5th for losing Seumalo.

People don't talk about this play enough. Automatic first down instead turns into the fumble.

We don’t talk about it probably because we want to forget it. 🙁

Does anyone remember what the play call was on Jalen’s fumble? 3rd and 6. Did he roll out and just drop the ball? Having a brain freeze on that. Probably because it was a such a awful moment. Football amnesia.

The OL needs attention for sure.  Lane's health is slipping.  He's always a risk to miss time.  And we can't have certain death on offense every time he is out, as has been the case for the last several years.  Dickerson gutted out 17 starts last year, but he's got a rough injury history and seems to get injured and replaced mid-game on a near weekly basis.

I don't think we will be so lucky to have 5/5 starting OL in place for the playoffs next year...but we currently have 0 players that really project as acceptable depth, with modest apologies to Driscoll.  The OL has the unfortunate combination of being both high injury risk and thin on depth.

A first round pick to sit the bench in 2023, then to play RG in 2024, then to kick out to RT in 2025...when we have major defensive needs...I guess it's not so bad if we get a great talent, but that feels like a more appropriate career trajectory for a raw, but talented mid-round pick.

It would be boring but if the right offensive lineman is there at 10 it wouldn't be a bad idea at all to go in that direction.

He was the weakest of the starters. Not saying he was bad, but that's how strong the line is. If you had to lose 1 of them, that's the best case.

It's March. We don't know who they will sign or draft. We don't know who Stoutland likes on the roster that he's been developing but hasn't got much playing time yet because thankfully they were very healthy.

If a top OT prospect to groom to take over for Lane Johnson while also providing depth that would be a solid move.

I'm not even slightly concerned about losing Seumalo. He was a solid starter but you could put just about anybody between Lane and Kelce and they will look good.

Hopefully they aren't picking in the top 10 again any time soon. The opportunity to get a blue chip talent on the offensive or defensive line might be boring but is probably where they should be looking.
