This dude hasn't played for 3 years, prior to playing a little for Saints last year. Nasty Achilles injury. Although he was a second round pick in 2017..he is but a shadow of that at this point. Don't know if this is just a long try out?? or he did recover to pre injury state.???? We will see. Not much hope.

Obviously they need to bring in players to compete for a starting opening and to fill depth at the position. There's no reason not to give a player like this a look. Worst case scenario, you cut the guy (with no cap ramifications) if he doesn't work out. Best case scenario, you get a situation like the raiders did when they signed Derrick Burgess.

I think the Eagles should be looking at FA Safety John Johnson ... word is that he would cost around 4-5 mil. He was a cap cut with Cleveland after having a scheduled base of 8.5 mil in 2023. Solid player, just not worth 8.5+ on a cap hit.

Yup, 100% agreed. He totally social media'd his way out of Philly.

Not going to lie, I wanted them to resign him badly. But somehow now that they didn‘t I‘m not as sad as I thought I would be.

Plenty of holes still to fill but we aren‘t even past the draft yet. In Roseman I trust. Go Birds!

Yep - CGJ overvalued himself and can’t control himself on social media. I know a lot of people hate Gannon but calling him out on social media was a bad look as well.

I’ve seen people say on this board that we will have a near the bottom ranked D. I don’t see it. We still have an exceptional group of edge rushers. We have two corners who made the pro bowl/all pro last year. Davis and Williams should be ready for expanded roles at DT and Cox is fine within a rotation. We are weak at LB and safety at the moment but Howie will add there through free agency or trade. We have 2 first rounders to come including a top 10 pick.

I think we are set up for another run.

We just signed Nicholas Morrow LB

Linebacker Nicholas Morrow has agreed to a deal with the #Eagles, per source. Morrow recorded 116 tackles (11 for a loss) in 17 starts with the #Bears last year.

So they basically traded Edwards for Morrow.

I assume this move was made because he was the Mike in Desai's D the year he was their DC?

I don't know much about Morrow, I just know that Bears team was pretty bad on both sides of the ball last season

Not going to pretend to know anything about this guy but 116 tackles/11 for loss sounds encouraging to me.

He wasn't even with the Bears when Desai was there, he was with the Raiders. Cheap depth is the more likely option

116 tackles with 11 for loss sounds more than "cheap depth"

He started every one of their games last year

It amazes me that fans still don't recognize Howie's patterns for more than a decade now.  He likes to sign 1 year cheap/medium level deals to plug in a hole on the roster.  That gives him some flexibility.  He can still draft a player at that position or eventually upgrade through another free agent or trade.  But if there isn't another option at least there's a stop gap for a year.

Absolutely spot on. We typically go into the draft not needing anyone to necessarily start. Gravy if they can especially 1st rounders but he always has his fall back prove it deal vets

Which is much better than trying to fill the gaps after the draft. Another tendency is not allocating much to safety, RB and LB.

"he was on the field for every single one of the Bears' 1,086 defensive snaps."

Durability counts ... he'll play Kyzir's spot while Nakobe will play TJ Edward's spot and call the Defense.

Also his 1st round picks have been linemen, WRs and one time a QB.  It would be against pattern for him to take any other position.  Not saying that can't happen, but it's a safer guess to think he'd take a linemen since they don't need a 1st round WR or QB.

I'd be good with a DT, DE/Edge or OT if they are a top prospect/blue chip at their position.  They haven't drafted a 1st round CB in over 20 years, a LB in 44 years but I'd love for them to break that pattern for the right player as well.

I think that #10 (or whatever spot they might trade back a bit to) will be a linemen.  That #30 can be a trade up/down and be any position at that point.

So the Bears didn’t want this LB, but wanted TJ over him. Hmmmmmmm.

From what I can guage from their fans, Morrow was only worth retaining for squad depth / TC competition, much like what I expect we're getting. They felt that he was worth keeping for 1 year at around $3 million. We'll see what the figures are soon enough.

TJ getting a 3 year $12 mil guaranteed contract was never a priority or even on the cards for us, but he's clearly an upgrade over Nicholas and something that the Bears could want to afford.

Based on his stats, I'm far happier getting Morrow on the cheap than the Evans deal.

Bijan’s not happening at 10.

But is Bijan happening at 17?

…also no.

I know it’s only March, and the roster is not anywhere near being set, but as of now……….UGH.

Carry on.

As the 3rd WR, I liked him more for his blocking ability more so than to take catches away from the top 3 options.

Oh I absolutely agree…I was saying from his perspective, he probably wants a few more touches on offense. It’s easy to see why a team like Cardinals would appeal to him as it’s gives him a chance to be a bit more featured that he would be here

#30 has a 5th year option. Very valuable. We will see how the board unfolds. I would take a sliding WR or DI / DT at that spot. Possibly Guard, if they take a defensive player higher up.

I don't know a thing about the dude. However, based on the Eagles past history at LB and the fact that this dude has 46 career starts and played every defensive snap for the Bears last season I think it's pretty obvious he is being brought in to replace Kyzir White. How effectively he will be able to do that remains to be seen.
