I don't know a thing about the dude. However, based on the Eagles past history at LB and the fact that this dude has 46 career starts and played every defensive snap for the Bears last season I think it's pretty obvious he is being brought in to replace Kyzir White. How effectively he will be able to do that remains to be seen.

He is a converted safety (from college). Was an undrafted signing by the Raiders. Had a really good year in 2020 but then was injured and out for all of 2021. Then signed for the Bears.

His strength is pass defence more than run, and historically has been one of the better coverage LB's in the league although last year was a step back in that regard. He is on the smaller side 6'0 and 215 lbs. All adds up given his background as safety,

So he's Kyzir White 2.0 essentially except a lot cheaper?

#30 has a 5th year option. Very valuable. We will see how the board unfolds. I would take a sliding WR or DI / DT at that spot. Possibly Guard, if they take a defensive player higher up.

One of those picks will be a trade down I think i.e. we only pick #30 if we traded down from #10.

Howie will try and add some Day 2 / 3 picks somewhere this year given currently we are essentially sitting out Rds 4-6 of the draft. Maybe that is by trading out Rd 2 or 3 but those picks will probably yield back less than trading down from #10 or #30

Yeah similar style and level - solid but not a game chaerger / playmaker. A bit smaller I guess. Has experience at both MIKE and WILL. He actually was decent against the run last year and not as strong as he had been against the pass which was a bit of reversal of his time in Oakland based on what I've read. Not that I watched every Bears game.

My concern would be size and who can take on blocks in the run game if we are rolling with a combo of Dean and Morrow. But I guess that's what Davis is for - keep the blockers off the LBs.

I'm glad they have Dean to replace White and hope he works out of course.  But it was really nice last year to FINALLY not have LB be a glaring weakness.  They had a good group and it's a shame they had to lose both White and Edwards.

Justin Evans is just a camp body to provide some level of "competition".

Losing Pascal stinks.  I hope Howie doesn't overlook WR this offseason.  If we lose Brown or Smith for any length of time, we have nobody that can feasibly step up to keep the machine running.  We need a quality WR3.

Quez should ideally be a #4, and we then draft a specialist slot guy.

That way if one of the two outside guys go out, Quez can step into that role but in reality is behind the quality slot guy in terms of focus for the passing game.

I’d like to see more of Christian Ellis. 6’3 and 230lbs, good size and looks like he can tackle.

Me too.

Dude was all over the field making tackles in his limited time playing last season. Let’s see what he’s got.

Justin Evans (NO) - sounds good. All the Safetys the Eagles get from NO work out

The 10 is the jaw breaker, as it holds so much value and so many different options, with 3-4 QB in the top 10 pushing talent down. Multiple trade possibilities and top shelf players available. Franchise  CB, or franchise DT / DE, or franchise OL or someone also. I think there will be a very loud moment of silence right before Draft Announcement, and possibly a lot of dropped jaws after. Hopefully a loud cheer.

Guess Penny can't where his #20 huhn

I keep seeing some of y'all saying the defense is depleted, there is "no defense" and they need to replace the entire defense in the draft and other extreme comments.  Either you're just really emotional or you don't pay enough attention to the actual roster and decisions over the years.

Who did they really lose on defense that matters?  I would argue CJG, Hargrave and Edwards are the biggest impact.

They already drafted replacements to develop and start:  Davis for Hargrave, Dean for White.  They need to find a LB to replace Edwards and while they have a stop gap safety I'd like to see another addition there.  But they were able to retain Bradberry and Slay at corner which we didn't see happening.

I like to keep reminding everyone that rosters are not set in March.  Last year they traded for AJ Brown on draft day, signed Bradberry in May when the Giants released him and traded for CJG in August.

I wonder if Dean will slide inside into Edwards spot (didn't he play MLB at Georgia?) and they have Morrow penciled in as White's replacement.

Ok? That adds to the proof that he isn't a "cheap depth player".

Could be.  I'd still love to see another LB added whether FA or draft.

I'm sure Howie isn't done yet with adding vets to the roster.  We also have a couple LBs drafted in the past couple of years that it may be time to get a better look at (Johnson, Bradley, heck maybe even Taylor ... they kept him around for a reason).

Serious question,  does Davion Taylor still exist?

Think he was on PS all year so will be back in camp.

He has flashed a few times but also been so inconsistent and unable to stay healthy, so I don't think you can really count on him for anything. If he is a positive surprise in TC, so be it.

I think the odds of Davion Taylor becoming a useful player for us are about the same as K'Von Wallace becoming a solid starting safety.

It's okay to dream, I guess.

They should not be counting on any of those things happening.

Say it ain’t so

Please no. I don't want to see his stupid feeding himself celebration. Plus, he sucks.

New power back
