March 14, 20232 yr The biggest loss so far is Hargrave, and $84M over 4 years for a 30 year old was just not gonna happen. Roseman is going to be gunshy about signing 30+ year olds to big contracts after sigining a handful in 2018 and 2019 in an attempt to stay in the 2017 team's supposed championship envelope, only to seemingly have all of them get injured.

Cox will restructure but he hasn’t done a whole lot lately anyway, way past his prime. Epps played a lot because of injuries. Maddox will be healthy, Blankenship showed some promise. They have some of these holes already filled internally.

I like the player, but he's usually only as good as his backup with his availability. I'm fine with Davis/Williams starting at DT, but that also means they are going to need some really good depth behind them. If Cox is up for that...great. He gets first dibs. If he's too pricey, then I'd look back to Suh or elsewhere in the second tier. Dean should project into the starting lineup, but they still need 1 more to start and 1 more guy that they trust as insurance.

Cox was planned to leave, last year they cut then re-signed for 1 year then traded up for his replacement (Davis). White: when you sign a FA to a 1 year deal then draft Dean that's a plan. Suh & Joseph were mid-season signings who were on the street not on any team, desperate signings because of injury. They were never long-term plans. CJG, Edwards, Hargrave & Bradberry are the vital guys. And again this was all known for a year.

March 14, 20232 yr Not worried. I’ll wait until mid summer post June cuts to stress. Howie earned patience based on last year.
March 14, 20232 yr The only guy I’m upset about losing is Edwards. His contract was more than reasonable so it’s not like we got outbid by Chicago. I’ll take a 3 yr 19m contract for him all-day everyday. Hargrave got insane money that we couldn’t afford. Epps is no big loss and Dillard was a big disappointment.

I think the problem is he wasn't prioritized with the little space that they currently have. I'm going to go ahead an keep blaming Slay until he restructures :) That unrealized cap space savings is tying their hands.

He gave the Bears a home town discount. Edwards is from Illionis

They could’ve backloaded the deal to give them some relief this year. I just get the feeling they didn’t want to spend any real money on him.
March 14, 20232 yr Remember: Howie signed Bradberry in May after a cap casualty, traded for CJG in August, traded for Ajayi during the regular season, signed Blount well after initial preseason, signed Suh & Joseph mid regular season, traded for guys at the trade deadline. The roster is always changing.
March 14, 20232 yr This feels like two things. The first is Howie is really hoping that some of these quarterbacks last to around ten so he can trade down, and he’s hoping to get some bargain basement free agents during the latter waves.

You see outside Stroud and Young I think there's a significant drop off, Levis and Richardson both look like big arms attached to QB's that aren't nearly ready to start at the next level, I expect one of them will be there at 10. I wonder what elevates either Levis and Richardson ahead of people like Hooker and Thompson - Robinson. Levis played in a pro style offense but he hardly set the scoreboard alight, Richardson is the classic combine warrior, his freakish athletic measurables are valued way too high against a pretty underwhelming set of college passing numbers.

Richardson seems like a Cam Newton before all of the injuries but way more athletic. Someone will bite on him. Would be hilarious if its Carolina at #1
