Bradbury is likely signed to a cheap year one Cap number while Slay is either traded or released with a post June 1st designation. It's actually a smart move to open up cap space. If the Cap were not an issue we would have resigned Sanders instead of inking an injury prone prayer of a RB. If Cap Space weren't an issue we wouldn't have lost our starting MLB ... our starting OLB ... our starting Safety ... our starting DT's ... our starting RG ... our best backup LT ... should I go on? Yes, there's always ways to open up space, but there's no doubt we're up against it this year.

Hargrave got paid they weren't matching that. Dillard meh. Howie has enough to field another contender. Grab a bunch of quality 1 year prove it deal vets and bring on the draft with perhaps a trade or 2.

All of Howie's moves last year paid off incredibly ... it was a phenomenal win rate on free agents, trades, you name it ... what Howie touched turned to gold. I'm crossing fingers he finds a way to have the same win rate in 2023 because that's all the cap will allow for a ton of positions that still need filling; that's all my point is. I'm hoping the Slay cut or trade opens up enough room for CJGJ ... because even though I'm all for a Bradbury for Slay trade-off, that D looks like a shell of 2022 as it stands right now.

Yeah... if Slay doesn't restructure to a team friendly deal he's gone.

Says a lot about the culture of the team that someone fans thought would surely leave for more money wanted to stay. Notice that CJG hasn't been signed by anyone either. Could be interesting.

I don’t see any reason to complain. We’ll take a year to get the cap in better shape and then next year when we’re in a better position (and armed with 12 draft picks) we’ll make another run at a title. Relax and enjoy the ride.

March 14, 20232 yr Very happy with the resigning of Bradberry, on a team friendly deal no less. Nice Job! To all the guys acting like that means Slay will leave: I believe it when I see it. I bet we stick with Slay+Bradberry and we might still add a highly drafted CB. And that actually is the right way to go too if you ask me.

Would be happy to retain him but really want a Witherspoon / Gonzalez as well to bolster the CB room.

Cutting or trading him only helps if they use a post June 1 designation (would yield $17.5M in cap relief). The only way I see a team trading for him is if he agrees to a new deal that pays him significantly less. Hard to see a team trading for a 32 year old CB making $26M in 2023.

Oh, I'm not really against the strategy per se .... I'm just responding to a few who seem to think that Howie somehow has magical cap powers.
March 15, 20232 yr Great job by Howie to sign Bradbury. Now will they keep Slay or trade him during the draft?
