March 18, 20232 yr I find it hilarious when people blame Chip Kelly for NOT making a ridiculous trade.

March 24, 20232 yr I'm just not a fan of this dude. He's just not a talented thrower. Remember his final college game when he was allowed to play like a NFL QB instead of a Chip Kelly QB. We have to turn him back into a Chip Kelly RPO guy if we want this to work at all. He's a poor man's Daniel Jones and if we can get him to play a style that Daniel Jones used last year maybe this could work. It's a better fit in this offence then our moustached backup last year but only if he buys into using his mobility.
March 26, 20232 yr The Eagles paid more for Mariota than Mishew received from the Colts. That’s how little this supposedly cap strapped team cared for Minshew Mania.

The Colts are probably going to draft a rookie QB too just like the Jaguars did. Don’t know if his chances will be any greater there. For the record I didn’t want him back.

March 30, 20232 yr For consistency of knowing the playbook and all, I would have been happy to have Minshew back. I think while some overrated him, others also underrated him. I think he's a good backup and able to win games. Since he went for another opportunity, I like signing Mariota. He may not be as strong a passer, but if they're in a situation relying on him they can go run heavy, utilize his strengths in the run game plus use RBBC from the RB room. Then use some play action, some short looks to the big 3 talented WR and just kind of game manage/dink and dunk and should do well enough. Also I think it opens up some things in short/red zone situations a bit if he's in there. But I honestly have not paid that much attention to his NFL career so far.

Overall I feel like Mariota fits the offensive scheme way more than Mishew did. Did Minshew have a lot of opportunities here? No not really, but I can’t say he capitalized on his opportunities either. 1-3 in four starts isn’t the kind of backup play this team was counting on. Ultimately I don’t think the Eagles we’re all that impressed with Minshew mania. They probably really got frustrated with him when he couldn’t deliver a win between the Dallas and Saints games forcing them to have to play Jalen when they didn’t want to. I don’t think it was a bad idea to move on from Minshew. Way more unnecessary hype than what was needed.

I thought he'd be fine as back up I really did, even after the Dallas game I thought we'd have more than enough to beat the Saints, but he was really jumping at shadows against the Saints, the first half of that game offensively was as bad as anything we've played in the last 5 years, Minshew had happy feet and the only passes he could hit were 6 yard checkdowns to Gainwell after putting us at 3rd and 16, he hit one pass to Wide Receiver all half. We all knew he wasn't going to be a threat to run, but thought he could hold his own passing, but he couldn't do either. Mariota isn't anything special, but he does know when and how to run, and even passing our receivers are a step up from what he had last year.

Remember in Jalen’s rookie season when they benched him in the season finale against Washington when it looked like he had a chance to bring them back and they wanted to preserve that pick? That’s just a small example of how far the Eagles will go in order to keep their pick. Fast forward to last season where Minshew basically had one friggin job and that was to basically beat the Saints serving two purposes. The first was to ensure Jalen gets off until the playoffs to rest his shoulder and the second was to beat the Saints and possibly push that pick inside the top ten. Minshew failed to do his job.
