Just like last year, we're wringing our hands over who the safeties will be. We had Epps who at the time we didn't trust and Wallace. Presto - HOwie pulls a rabbit out of the hat after training camp starts and we had CGJ. And - that was after his James Bradberry magic.

This year it's safety once again but limebacker has replaced corner in the top 2 questions.

I think we'll be fine.

Damn black cat... glitch in the matrix

We'll be fine -- probably even better than "fine" -- if our offense stays healthy. Just a few patches on defense in the meantime.

We'll be a good team for sure. I still like us more than others in nfc. That said these rabbits don't always work. I'd really like one player added at some point that allows me to dream they are better

Bottom line it comes down to who has the best HC and QB duo and in the NFC that’s still us. This roster has talent let’s not think otherwise but that’s the biggest factor.

The Niners have a loaded roster but their QB situation is not good and Shanahan is not a better HC than Sirianni.

Yes... the offense is stacked and may be even more so after the draft.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go after more offensive tools. Imagine them adding a slot WR and another RB!

I mean what if they trade back in the 1st, get extra picks and somehow end up with like Josh Downs from NC or Zay Flowers (to play slot) and either Bijon Robinson or Gibbs at RB?    Adding additional picks along with adding young speedy playmakers on offense......kind of like doing this!!

If you are going to have to get through KC to win a Super Bowl, we had better be prepared to outscore them! LOL

Draft will add a lot of confidence to everybody, count on it. I believe they actually do become more experienced playing together, it’s not just talent but familiarity. We got a good young core on offense and that they now played the whole way is worth something too. Can’t wait to see them go this season.

If we're going 2nd round back I'm intrigued by a 4.3 guy running behind this OL (Gibbs). Thunder speed (Penny) and Lightening Speed (Gibbs). Plenty of slot receivers to choose from that are also returners (Mims, Reed, Palmer, etc). Or you could go big slot with Bryce Ford-Wheaton since we like to run 50-50 man. If we're going later round back give me Izzy :D

They should absolutely not draft a WR in the first few rounds.  Maybe later for depth.  But maybe get an undrafted free agent or a cheap veteran signed from another team.

Their receiving options are not an issue.  They have two 1,000 yard receivers and one of the top TEs in the NFL.  Teams generally have 2 or 3 guys who get like 95% of the receptions.  Brown, Smith and Goedert are those guys.  You want depth, but how many teams have that great of depth behind two 1,000 yard receivers anyway?

They have some needs on defense but there's also RB and O line.

Last year, Miles Sanders was the guy and they allowed him to showcase himself for free agency. But there's a reason we drafted Gainwell a couple years ago and he's about to get his turn to have a much larger role. In two seasons, Gainwell now has 34-187-1 (rushing) and 12-104-1 (receiving) in 4 postseason games. Strange that people are completely ignoring him.

He's a good part of a rotation. Not the type that can handle a large load. Terrible in pass pro. Not great running inside.

I mean look add good young talent to this team. That’s really what matters. And the more really really good young talent they can add the better.

I’m not suggesting in the first or second, definitely not no. Third? I mean yeah sure if the player is really good. Fourth? Yeah that feels more realistic I think. Bottom line, Quez can’t be the #3 next year. If he is that bad.

few patches? I hope you're right. Seems to me like the whole defense is being dismantled. LOL.

They'll bring in a vet to replace Pascal and probably draft someone in the later rounds. Mims, Reed, Palmer, Ford-Wheaton, Landers should be on the radar.

As we get closer to the start of the season and even up to trade deadline, Howie has an opportunity to use picks for the draft after this pending one to make moves if need be, because he will have more picks to play with.

Don’t know… I guess I’m able to predict the future.

Howie did last year what he did on our SB run except it worked back then and we got a trophy. Last season we came up 30 minutes short. It might take a couple of years before we're able to do it again.

I am impressed with how Howie prevented an absolute exodus in FA. But losing Hargrave is a major blow. I know we still have the draft to look forward to. I expect us to contend for the NFC Championship. But I don't believe we will be breaking defensive records this year.

Well, they did get dismantled in the SB.  And they won it all in 2018, with Brady going through them like Whoopi goes through a buffet line.

Gannon should get much of the blame, but players still have to make plays and we lost because they didn't.

Gannon should get a huge amount of blame for the super bowl.....but you're right, players have to make plays.  Glad Gannon is gone.  But they have an unknown in Desai, so who knows how that plays out.  But I hope he's more aggressive than Gannon./

Now that Hurts is signed, the cap situation becomes more clear for the next 3 years.

I'm sure Howie will still sign a couple more one year pieces to fill holes.  They have the draft picks, some cap space and trade material.

Losing Hargrave, TJ Edwards and CJGJ creates opportunity for young guys......I think Nakobe Dean becomes a force and a leader.  Terrell Edmunds is rated higher than CJGJ and provides a stop gap veteran presence.  Hargrave is tough to replace.... Street was a good signing and an effective DT.

I expect them to add 2-3 really good players in the draft that can contribute in limited roles in their rookie years.

I came in here because I thought there was a rumor Howie was picking a QB in round 2 this year.
