Posted March 23, 20232 yr CBS news just did a piece on what happened to Chinatown in D.C. after a stadium was built in the neighborhood in the 1990s. Apparently all that's left is a single restaurant, a bunch of Chinese signs in front of businesses that are no longer Chinese. And the big ornate Chinese gateway, an empty symbol of what used to be. The signs and gateway remain because they're protected by the bill intended to preserve the character of the neighborhood once the stadium was built. Enjoy your noodles while you can.
September 19, 20241 yr Author Gutsy move for the Mayor to endorse the arena so close to the big election, with a quarter million Chinese Americans in the Delaware Valley. Five million in the US. Have to wonder if it'll affect their votes. Shame to see Chinatown go away after 150 years.
