I’ve been one of Howie’s most vocal haters over the years but in the last couple of years he’s completely turned my views around. I’m very very glad that Howie is here and is our GM.

Same. I was a Howie Hater. Not now.

The turnaround by this guy is quite amazing. I know he built the SB team a few years ago but I still think luck played a big part there. But this roster that he’s now built not only is I think more talented but has a real chance to be a contender for many years. And he’s done that all in a few years despite cap restrictions and rebuilding a roster after a decline for a couple of years.

And if get a decent punter, we may even contend this year. I don’t understand how a team can go into a season as is. Unbalanced at many positions..with a glaring hole in special teams.

Dude, how long have you been a fan of this team?  And how closely do you follow the roster construction process throughout the year?  99.99% of our fans know that getting to 53 is only the first step in Howie's process of finalizing the roster (I'd probably add that the roster is never really "final" ... Howie is continuously tweaking it throughout the entire calendar year).  He was smart to waive both Covey and Siposs feeling pretty certain no one would claim them and then adding them to the practice squad so as to protect more valuable players on the 53.  Those guys can be called up as needed or replaced with better options.  And it has already been reported we are working out punters, so I don't think concern is warranted.

I somewhat agree with you both.  But for sure ST is a big concern right now.  You have a punter & PR on the PS only & you've lost 3 of your top ST players (Bradley, Zach M & Wallace). Also only 3 LBs & 4 S on roster which are key ST positions. Can you even afford to play Dean at ST? And to top it Clay is lost.  So I do think roster will get tweaks and there will be PS call ups but it's still a looming weakness

Hindsight is always 20/20, but even back then there were grumbling that Wentz struggled with better teams. If we are going to play the hypothetical game though one could argue that if that dope Chip Kelly didn’t trade Foles to begin with we possibly could have had multiple Super Bowls by now. People like to downplay Nickks contributions to that Super Bowl, but what he did in the playoffs especially after the 2nd half of the the Falcons game was legendary. More than the Nick Foles made Chip Kelly seem like a legit NFL coach. He’s the only quarterback to ever do that save Vick for about one game.

Chip did that as I remember because he badly wanted Marcus Mariota.

It's crazy... he is now one of the best GM's in the game.

I agree with what pgcd3 said above. Too many unanswered questions on the special teams, so close to the beginning of the season. And I have been following the Eagles since 1979. So I have learned to ignore the crowd mentality and have my own opinions. In retrospect I have been more right than wrong about majority of decisions through the years, so I feel good about my knowledge and experience. I understand what Howie is doing, …looking to upgrade the roster, but it is about time that he addressed the special teams. No he has not ignored it and did workout multiple players,…. But he did not sign them…. meaning that there are more questions than answers. So yes I worry that there is little time and we have glaring holes.

What makes no sense is not giving Araiza a shot…who was not guilty

meanwhile let’s keep Sills on the roster …for how long and then cut him

Yeah that is a bit strange. If the guy has been proven not guilty then it seems a bit strange. But perhaps the character concerns remain.

Chip gave up a lot to get Sam Bradford though. If his plan was to try and flip Bradford in the future for Mariota then that’s like second level stupid.

I am 100%, full speed ahead, ecstatic that the biggest concern we have on TATE is the depth of our special teams. HI YO FNKING SILVER!!! I can’t wait for kickoff!!!

I distinctly remember a Green Bay opener years ago that we lost because of ST.  But yes the Eagles are very good in so many other ways and it's a good position to be in
