When did I say he was going to be good? I said "if”.

Yeah I don’t see this being a quick payoff either. This doesn’t feel like he’s going to be ready to even be the number 2 guy in a year, but stranger things have happened. Just feel like your vibe is he’s going to be good really soon and ready to be the backup in a year or less. I just don’t see that.

It's harder to get positive return trade value from an overachieving 2nd rd pick --- unless that pick proves to be a franchise QB. Then at that point trading him seems counterproductive. But with a later round pick, you can possibly get a realistic positive return if that QB plays well as a backup.

When the Eagles drafted Hurts after just paying Wentz, one had to wonder if that was the original plan. I don't think anybody expected Wentz to flop at that point. There was some concern about his durability. But like I said, the team invested a 2nd rd pick on a player other teams weren't as high on. So if the goal was to turn that player into a trade asset, probably the best you can do is the Kevin Kolb trade, right?

To me Hurts was never going to be "flipped for a pick” nor did I see him as some did as the Eagles version of Taysom Hill. The writing was on the wall back then and that was if Hurts was good he wasn’t going to make himself a trade asset. He was going to make  Wentz expendable. That was the only thing that made sense, but some weren’t willing to accept that truth.

Just speaking in hypotheticals. If he’s good, I keep him as backup unless I get blown away with an offer.

I feel like if he’s good it would be mostly due to the Eagles protecting him and making him look better than he really was (AJ Feely) and as such taking the trade value would be the better option, because truthfully they know he’s not as good as what he did on the field indicates.

This is the spot where you take a flyer on a QB with hope to develop him and flip him into a better pick. #qbfactoryzzzzzzzz!!!!

Someone had to say it!

I don't know the kid, some say he's not a good fit.  In the 6th and 7th rounds you're just looking for something unique or something you can develop, take a chance.  I don't get too worked up over these late round picks.  They could end up on the practice squad or cut.  But they saw something in him and he would at best be the #3 so not worried about it.

He has a live arm. He might be able to go out there and throw a few bombs to grocery baggers in preseason to get a few people thinking he’s ways better than he actually is. Probably shouldn’t overthink about a guy who might not even make the practice squad.

Boooo!!!! Booooo!!!

Camp body. If that.

At this juncture, we're really splitting hairs. In the 6th round you aren't usually finding starters, unless you draft for special teams and take a P or K. Personally, I would have liked to take a chance on Andrew Vorhees before the Ravens scooped him up in the 7th round, and redshirted him his rookie year with the upside to be a starting guard down the road especially if the Eagles think they can move Tyler Steen back to tackle down in the future, but that's just a preference.

Quality starting QBs are expensive and good backups aren't cheap either. Clearly the Eagles think the upside of McKee as a backup made him the pick there in the 6th round, whether or not they have the intention to trade him down the road.

I don't get it, doesn't fit the offense, isn't the best QB left on the board, a real head scratcher, appreciate it's thin pickings at this point but this is an odd pick.

Howie has some secret affinity for the PAC-12. He almost always takes 1 from there. Thank goodness he's doing it late in the draft nowadays. Maybe the left coast attraction is a Lurie thing, I don't know. In any event, if they can develop him, they can move him for draft capital in the future and if not, he was a 6th rounder.

I agree. Take a chance. You never know.

Reach and a bust at the same time.

"WAAAAHHHH!!!! We didn't get 1st round talent in the 6th round!!! WAAAAAAHHHH!!!! This draft sucks!!! Fire Howie!!!! "

TATErs gunna TATE. FFS.

Where have I seen that before ... ? 🤔

Trying to jinx him into the next Jalen Hurts?

That means he’s pretty darn good so I’ll take it. It also means one of them will be flipped for a first.

Maybe they were looking for a guy to play on scout team to simulate the big arm statue type and maybe become future trade bait.

never heard of him

Big Kid. Not a total statute. He has the ability to escape and run for 10 yds. Also, are we going to cry over the 3rd string QB. Howie cited the 49ers as a reason why this kid was drafted. Sirani said he smart and understands defenses and can throw in tight windows with accuracy. Also, he didn't get any help from his O line so his numbers are not accurate. They see potential and with being the 3rd stringer he will get reps. Hopefully, he never has to a play a down his rookie year.

Man he just gave a great interview. Love this kid.

This video demonstrates his ability to read defenses, get rid of the ball on time, throw accurate passes in tight windows and it shows him take off and run when needed. Guarantee this kid beats out Ian Book for the 3rd QB spot. The video also shows him run the RPO. People Watch the video before saying he isn't a good fit on our offense.

It also appeared he wasn't just a statue in the pocket. He seemed to be able to move as needed. Those were just the highlights, though. He may not be Jalen Hurts, but neither was Minshew. Minshew cost us a 6th rd pick as well.

Yep. He he ran a few sprint outs and throws an accurate ball on the move. HIs upside is going to be fun to watch. Another thing is he is used to being under pressure with that O Line. The Eagles website has a really good NFL Draft video on him but can't post it. His decision making is good and is capable of going beyond the first read if not there. He didn't make a lot of mistakes. I think his height also gives him an advantage. He can see the field. He's more like Foles than Hurts. Maybe in the future Howie can get a good pick for him. Or maybe he becomes the back up.

Can anyone confirm whether his arm strength approaches that of Carson Strong? Anyone?

I find the people that are  constantly poking fun at people for liking Carson Strong last year are also the same people who can't stop bringing him up.

Let it go...

finally...a legit starting caliber qb on the roster!
