August 18, 20232 yr This thread should be pinned. I love what this kid does. I like that he is big and can see over the line. I like that he has a strong arm. I love that he throws a pretty ball. I love that he throws with accuracy and touch. He shows good awareness in the pocket, has the ability to step up in the pocket, he gets rid of the ball quickly, and has the abiliity to run 10 yds and pick up a first down when things break down. He has demonstrated this for two games straight. I know the coaches see this. It's time they reward him by playing him with the 2nd string and see what he does with them. We have seen enough of Mariota to know he is not the answer at Back up QB. I believe this kid is going to have a long career in the NFL if he keeps playing like he is.

This kid has the right stuff but he will take time. He will need a year or two to learn to read defenses, and work on his technique. After that..he has all the tools to become a successful pocket passer.
August 18, 20232 yr I don't like to overreact to two preseason games. That being said, this kid is definitely going to unseat Jalen Hurts, win multiple Lombardis and league MVP titles, en route to the Hall of Fame.

Maybe the team likes having the Stanford guy as its third stringer behind the scenes. Don’t know if McKee is really playing well or if it’s just looking good compared to how poorly Mariota has looked, but he’s shown more than I expected from him so far. Pleasantly surprised so far.

August 20, 20232 yr It kind of reminds me when I first saw Foles play in the preseason. He's got potential. He makes those preseason 2nd halves bearable to watch even without much help. He's also more mobile than Tom Brady. I can't wait for the comparison police to arrest me for using Super Bowl MVPs in this post. Might as well go for 3 strikes... I'd rather have him on the roster than Joe Flacco.

But would he be better in goofy commercials than the Mannings?

His ball placement and poise is truly remarkable for a rookie. Obviously it’s preseason, and he’s playing against a vanilla defense with scrubs, but I can’t remember an Eagle rookie QB looking this good.
August 23, 20232 yr All i know is that i am hoping he plays the entire game tomorrow because the offense is unwatchable with mariota or book in there.
August 23, 20232 yr Welp, Mariota isn't playing and nor are our Starters. However, the Colts are playing their starters. So now we will get to see McKee start with the 2nd Team and see how he does against the Colts starters. Looking forward to it.
August 23, 20232 yr Glad to have a back-up QB getting the praise all around. His roster spot looks locked now. He may even move up to the 2nd QB in the depth chart as season progresses. Further out, can he stay as 2nd behind Hurts for long?

Most of the Colts starters are 2nd team NFL players, so he's got that going for him.

I don't think we will see much of their front 7 starters, and their secondary is terrible. So it should be a fair fight. If they play Paye, Buckner and Leonard all bets are off, but i really doubt those guys see the field.
August 23, 20232 yr Trade him now while his pre-season stock is high. Howie will work his magic and get a 3rd rounder for him. 🙃🙃🙃
