In honor of Shocker.... 69

#freeShocker

I have no reason to believe our offense won't be at least as good as last year. So if we continue to go into 4th quarters with leads, teams will continue to become desperate passing teams late in games. That's why I see us reaching 70 again. Last year, the Eagles probably had their best starting CB duo in team history and those two players return. That had a lot to do with the jump in sacks. It would be nice if Maddox can stay healthy all year as well. We did lose some good starters on defense, but I just don't see going from Hargrave to Carter as a drop off in production. It's crazy the amount of double teams Carter saw last season:

We also lost Epps and CJGJ, but Blankenship held his own in place of CJGJ and Epps was solid at best. We have a good mix of talent and experience to battle for the starting spots. Our depth at CB has surely increased with the additions of Greedy and Ringo alone. Edwards had a tremendous season for us last season, but I really believe Dean can play at that same level. White is also gone. He started strong for us last season and then kind of tailed off a bit. It's unknown who will win that spot or how well he will play. That may be the biggest question on defense for now. But what is unusual is because of how things worked out the last 2 drafts, the newest faces on defense already have familiarity with each other and, I mean ... this is a real positive that shouldn't be overlooked.

I just can't see any reason, at this time, why we can't duplicate last year's sack total.
