Eagles’ WR DeSean Jackson, rookie QB Jalen Hurts work out in Florida

The Eagles — and the rest of the NFL — haven’t had OTAs or minicamps so far this offseason, and the coaches and staff just recently returned to the NovaCare Complex. The only official work the team has done together has been remote.

Despite limitations due to COVID-19, players have had a smattering of in-person contact — Brandon Graham and Darius Slay worked out together in Michigan, Rodney McLeod and Will Parks (with a special cameo from Malcolm Jenkins) hit the field for some practice, etc... — and now, DeSean Jackson got some practice in with the team’s second-round draft pick, QB Jalen Hurts.

Without question, Hurts was the most surprising pick for Philadelphia during the NFL Draft, but the coaches and front office touted his locker room presence and aptitude for the game as driving factors for the selection. Head coach Doug Pederson has emphasized several times that Hurts will be trained as a quarterback, and any other offensive role would be a secondary concern.

Hurts will have a much-needed leg up once the team (hopefully) starts training camp next month thanks to some work with the team’s top deep threat.
