LB Nakobe Dean (UPDATE: Torn Patellar Tendon - Will Miss Rest of Postseason - Could Miss Next Season)

Featured Replies

He got juked by Watson a couple times, but he still led the team with 12 tackles today --- much better than the tampa game.

He whiffed on a tackle at one point that I think was a swing pass to the RB that would have been stuffed for little gain but instead ended up as a first down.

He will improve as time goes. Health is the only concern. I do like that hes all over the place. Seems to have some wheels on him. He just needs to finish those tackles.

A couple of bad angles but much better than the Bucs game.

I think it was more a bad angle than a whiff, he had to stretch and it was a stiff arm while trying to pursue.

I hope he gets better sideline to sideline. His angles and quickness are bad. In-between the tackles though he's legit.

Worth the pick just for that

He has been fantastic since the Bucs game. The whole defense has

Yeah he's been pretty good this season

Playing in tandem with Baun is proving to be great for both of them. They bring the best out of each other and they seem to be building a legit bond. Just watch how they celebrate together and hang out on the sidelines. Less individuals, more a unit.

Statistically Dean didn’t really have a stand out game, but he had two pass breakups and a game saving interception. I like to admit I was wrong about a guy and I was indeed wrong about this guy.

18 rush attempts and 16 of 31 passing doesn't allow for some huge tackle numbers for a LB'er. He made impact plays as a pass defender, those are some big steps considering that's been the knock on him last season

Earlier this season he struggled against some bigger TEs in coverage but yeah as this season has progressed he just keeps getting better. Forced a fumble last week to help seal that win. He’s playing like a clutch player right now.

In typical Philly fashion, fans and media gave up way too early on Nakobe Dean.  Not only hampered by injuries his first 2 years, he also has had 4 defensive coordinators, each with their own schemes and philosophies.....and plenty of new faces on defense.

People underestimate the impact that coordinators can have on players.  Players don't have to be the most physically gifted to become extremely effective in a system.

I think what we're seeing is a kid who is extremely dedicated to learning and getting better......understanding more and more the defensive scheme, getting more confident each game.  The defense is really beginning to jell.....

I always thought he had it in him but wasn't sure he'd see the field. Coaches can't quantify instincts so they don't usually factor it into which guy should play. You just have to take the bad with the good with instinctual players. They're going to miss stuff but then they'll make game saving int's.

Dean was completely healthy his entire rookie season. No injuries. No missed practices. No missed games played on special teams. He simply didn't win the starting "mike" role over TJ Edwards who had an outstanding season. The only season he's ever had injuries in his football life was last season.

Some fans are just comically impatient and live in a fantasy world where star players are stars from day 1 or it will never happen.

Good clarification......he had the 2 injuries in his 2nd year.  And he did play special teams his rookie year and clearly wasn't ready to win the MLB from Edwards.

They had the same opinion on Nolan Smith who appears to also be turning a corner and playing a lot better.

Saw this earlier and it's a good example of Dean learning from mistakes to be able to put himself in a position to make this play.

Love that! Love that he read it and made the play, love the reaction of Hurts and of his team mates.

Dean has definitely turned the page and right now looks like a great draft selection. He and Baun together look like a dynamic tandem.

Currently the 4th highest rated LB per PFF.  :flex:

Saw where Dean tweaked his elbow and is practicing with an elbow sleeve

I don't think that is on the season --- maybe from a certain date.

I think Dean is having a very good season and getting better the more he plays. He had a rough day in tampa this season with 5 missed tackles, but has been able to bring his missed tackle percentage down to a respectable 8.6 % on the season including that game. For those wondering if that is good or bad, Fred Warner had a 9.6% last year and a 10.9% this year and 8.7% for his career.
