The Eagles look on these types of situations as opportunities to speak with some of the brightest and most successful football coaches in the world about every aspect of running a football program. It gives them insight into the newest and best practices that other coaches and organizations are using to succeed — in all sorts of areas, like practice facilities, scouting, player development, intercoach communications, play-calling, decision hierarchy, draft analysis, identities of talented coaches the interviewees have worked with, etc. etc. To whine about them not having hired someone in a rush already is extremely short-sighted. Personally, I’m thrilled they are engaging in a deliberate, thoughtful process. I certainly have not seen anyone else hired as an OC this offseason so far that I regret them not hiring.
