Control has nothing to do with the ball moving in your hands. It has to do with the ball leaving your hands.

The Smith catch in the SB was a catch but the hands to helmet thing would let a drunk at a bar think its not.

This is 100 out of 100 a catch. No frame shows it as not a catch.
